Cold Blood by Heather Hildenbrand Blog Tour Stop

Cold Blood (Dirty Blood #2)

Welcome to The Cold Blood Tour! I love the world Heather has created and I have been hooked since Dirty Blood and patiently awaiting book two Cold Blood. When I tell you I COULD NOT put the book down because it was SO SO GOOD, I am not lying. Heather has crafted a world where two worlds collide into one and Tara and Wes must fight the evil lurking with good.

There are new characters Cambria who is a kick a$$ Hunter and Tara's best friend. Logan who is a Hunter as well but olalala he is a brainiac and knows his stuff. Then there is Alex who is Tara's trainer and mentor. And you know with every great book there is always the antagonist and we have some in here but the biggest one is Victoria. She is a rich, spoiled B!@#$! She runs the school and harasses every new person who comes in.

So without further ado here is an excerpt from the book and because I LOVE LOVE this series I will be giving away three e-copies of Cold Blood. All you have to do is leave your name and e-mail address and on December 08, 2011 I will pick the three winners! Happy Reading :)

Angela and Sam were in the den. The room had been put back together since Leo’s intrusion, minus several pieces of furniture that were too broken to salvage. The couch was saved, along with the coffee table. A spare TV from the garage had been set up on a bookshelf and a brand new marbled glass globe covered the light fixture on the ceiling. Other than that, the room was pretty empty. It was the room that had seen the most destruction from Leo’s goons. Grandma said it was because the den was the first room I would’ve seen when I came home that day, and Leo knew that. He’d trashed the house even after my mother had agreed to go with him, all to get a reaction out of me and send me running after him. It had worked.
Sam was watching E! News and twirling a lock of silky hair between her fingers. Angela flipped through one of my mother’s gardening magazines. They both looked up when I came in.
“Hey, stranger,” Sam said, raising the remote to click the TV off.
“You should leave it on.” I sent a pointed look at the ceiling where muffled voices could be heard rising with each comment. “It’ll drown out the static.” I sank onto the couch, next to Angela. She gave me a sorrowful look.
“How are you?” she asked. “I mean, really?”
“Miserable,” I admitted. Though they only knew half of it, or maybe less than half. As far as they knew, I’d punched Cindy, my mother flipped out, and now I was being shipped off to boarding school. That, in itself, was enough to make a girl miserable, so I figured it was fine to admit.
“Yeah, I’d be miserable, too. But I mean, at least its co-ed,” Sam said. Angela shot Sam a look. “What? I’m trying to help her look at the bright side.”
“She’s with Wes, remember?” Angela whispered. They also both knew that my mother was not a fan of Wes.
“A girl can window shop,” Sam hissed back.
Angela turned to me, rolling her eyes. “You have to email us every day, okay? And call whenever you can. They will let you call, right?”
“I don’t really know. I’ll call as much as I can.”
“Oh, and we’re supposed to give you this.” Angela reached into her pocket and handed me a folded up piece of notebook paper, flattened out from all the handling. “It’s from George. You can read it later."
“Oh, no way, she reads it now. I’ve got to hear this.” Sam shifted like she was getting comfortable and waited expectantly.
I unfolded the paper and silently scanned the words. Oh geez. I looked up. Sam – and even Angela – was still waiting. Sam had the ghost of a grin on her lips. Judging by her smile, there was a good chance she already knew what it said. Making me read it out loud was icing on the cake. I cleared my throat and read in a low voice:

This Romeo is bleeding
But you can't see his blood.
It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up
It's been raining since you left me
Now I'm drowning in the flood.
You see I've always been a fighter
But without you I give up.
Now I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be
Well, I guess I'm not that good anymore
But baby, that's just me
And I will love you, baby. Always
And I'll be there forever and a day. Always
I'll be there till the stars don't shine
Till the heavens burst and
The words don't rhyme
And I know when I die, you'll be on my mind
And I'll love you–Always
Love, George.

When I was done–and completely red faced–I lowered the paper and looked at the girls.
“Wow. That was…” Angela began.
“Hot,” Sam finished. “Who knew the boy had it in him? Do you think he got it off the internet?”
“No, he didn’t get it off the internet,” Angela argued.
Sam shrugged. “He could’ve. We should google it.”
"You guys? It's Bon Jovi." I folded the letter and shoved it into my jeans pocket. "It was our song. It doesn’t matter, anyway. I’m leaving, remember?”
“And you have Wes,” Angela put in.
“Who is way hotter than George,” Sam added.
I grinned; I couldn’t help it. “I’m going to miss you guys.”
Sam and I threw our arms around Angela and brought it in for a group hug that had us giggling until the doorbell rang. All three of us eyed each other with raised brows.
“Five bucks on George,” Sam said.

I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Today is the day to be thankful for things we have and the things we will get soon. I personally am thankful for my family and friends. I have met a lot of awesome people over the year and I want to say thank you!

Today Rachel Vincent also released the cover to her new Novella called Never To Sleep so here is what she posted from her blog http://rkvincent.wordpress.com/author/rkvincent/

Yes, that’s Sophie, not-sleeping on the cover of “Never To Sleep.”

Again, here’s the description:

Don’t Close Your Eyes.

Sophie Cavanaugh is not going to let her freak of a cousin’s strange psychiatric condition ruin high school for them both. Not after all the work she’s put into cultivating the right look, and friends, and reputation. But then Sophie sees something so frightening she lets out a blood-curdling scream—and finds herself stuck in a bizarre parallel world where nothing is safe and deadly creatures lurk just out of sight, waiting for her to close her eyes and sleep…forever.

Could this world be real? Or does insanity run in the family…?

“Never To Sleep” comes out Jan 1 in the US and Canada, and it should be free for a limited time.

Breathless by Scott Prussing

Breathless by Scott Prussing
Title: Breathless

Author: Scott Prussing

Series: Book # 1 of Many

Release Date: August 2010

Source: Bought from Author Scott Prussing

Blurb: Breathless is a modern fantasy/romance novel in the mode of Twilight and Vampire Diaries, with enough new ideas to excite even the most devoted fans...

Weston College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was three years old. That's when her mom started acting weird, insisting sunlight hurt her skin because she'd been bitten by a one-fanged vampire.

But fascinated doesn't mean Leesa believes. Any more than she believes in blue fire, people who live for centuries, and kisses that can kill. But when her beloved older brother disappears after warning Leesa not to come looking for him, she is forced to consider all these and more.

She also has to figure out what to do about her mysterious new boyfriend. She knows Rave likes her a lot-so why won't he kiss her? And why is he always talking about vampires?

As Leesa draws closer to finding her brother, she faces some gut-wrenching decisions. Should she risk her mom's life trying to "cure" her? Should she continue seeing Rave, after he reveals his dangerous secret? And most terrifying of all, should she make the ultimate sacrifice-give up her humanity-to save her brother?

Warning: This book is One Fanged TERRIFIC! To learn more about the Blue Fire Saga, go to www.scottprussing.com

My Rating: 10 of 10

My Cover Thoughts: I love this cover! The blue fire coming from Rave’s hands into Leesa’s body is BEAUTIFUL!

My Thoughts/Review: WOW is the first word that comes to mind. I laughed and cried and threw this book because I wanted more. Lord this book had me up all night reading like a mad person. Tehehe I really enjoyed it!

Leesa is your all American girl but with a twist. She has a crazy mother who has checked out a long time ago and a brother who is missing. She has graduated from high school and wants to attend the same college as her brother. She has had this planned since forever but she really formulates a plan when her brother goes missing and sends her a cryptic e-mail not to look for him.

Now Leesa is in Connecticut going to college and she is super excited to start classes but she is also excited to start searching for her brother. As she looks for clues she can sense someone watching her but she is not sure who it is or why they are watching her. She is shy so she has few friends and she keeps to herself when her best friend tells her they are going to a party. Once at the party she feels like she needs some fresh air so she goes outside and that is when she meets a guy dressed all in black with eyes that draw you in. she talks to him and as she is staring into his eyes and getting lost in the moment she feels someone watching only she isn’t the only person who feels it.

The boy she is talking to leaves her side and a few minutes later she meets another guy she cannot take her eyes off of. She feels something for this guy like she never has before but as they get to know one another she realizes he is hiding something and she wants to know the truth. She confides in this stranger and tells him about her missing brother and how her life mission is to bring him home before their mother realizes he is gone.

Only Leesa knows that the guy she likes and the other mysterious guy are keeping secrets and she wants to know what they are. What will Leesa do when she finds out the truth about the true nature of each of these guys. Will she love Rave or will she love Stefan? Where is her brother? Can she save him? Want to know the answers to these questions well you will just have to buy the book!

Memorable Quotes: Page 186 Rave and Stefan talking

“It seems this is your lucky day, Volkanne,” Stefan said. “You’ll not die tonight.”

“I could say the same to you,” Rave replied, “were you not already dead.”

“Another time, another place, Volkanne,” Stefan promised, his eyes never leaving Rave’s as he backed away.

“I look forward to it, Vampire.”

Advice: This is a MUST read! You will fall in love with Leesa and Rave and Stefan.

Double Clutch by Liz Reinhardt Virtual Blog Tour

Double Clutch (A Brenna Blixen Novel)

What happens when you fall for the perfect guy...twice...in one day?

Brenna Blixen spent her freshman year homeschooling in Denmark; now that she's back in the States, she's determined to make her sophomore year unforgettable. And by unforgettable, she imagined awesome classes, fun friendships, and maybe a little romance.

What she got was a whole lot of romance, and all at once.

The same day that dark, brooding Saxon Maclean charmed her with his killer good looks and whip-smart wit, Jake Kelly stole her breath away with his heart-wrenching smile and intelligent, thoughtful focus.

But Saxon is a proud player who makes it clear that he doesn't know why he can't get Brenna off of his mind and out of his system, and Jake's sweet and humble attitude hides a secret past life that might be darker and more complex than Brenna is willing to deal with.

Complicating the matter is the fact that Saxon and Jake were once best friends and are now arch-enemies...and the more Brenna finds out about their connection to each other, the more intrigued and worried she becomes.

Between keeping the peace with her lovingly over-protective parents, designing t-shirts for her high school's rising punk band, keeping up her grades in classes split between academic and technical high school, and running the track like a maniac, Brenna has enough to worry about with out juggling two guys who make her heart thud and drive her crazy all at once.

She has to make a choice, but how is she supposed to do that when giving her heart to one of them might mean breaking the other's?

Here is my review on goodreads http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12577549-double-clutch

[lizafterbw.jpg]

So I want to give a big round of applause to Liz Reinhardt and a huge thank you for taking the time to be interviewed.

First of all tell us a bit about yourself.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog, Taneesha! My name is Liz Reinhardt. I spend way too much time on Facebook, am best buddies with my hilarious five-year-old daughter, still have a huge crush on my husband, love to read and write all things YA, and plan on making enough money writing to take my family to Italy. I went when I was a teenager, but the Sistine Chapel was closed when I was in Rome, and I must go see it!

When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I was always writing in school, but short things like poems and short stories. What happened was, I had this big, important paper due in Biology for Liberal Arts in college. I did not want to write it. So I started writing this romance. This loooong, strange romance novel. I wrote a 100,000 word book in a few weeks. I crammed and wrote the 8-page Bio paper the night before. Once I finished a book, it was addictive, and I kept wanting to do more and more!
Your novel has recently been released, how do you feel about that?

Really, really weird! Three months ago, I could count on both hands all the people in the world who had readDouble Clutch and almost every one was related to me or a good friend. Now people are putting it on favorites lists. They're arguing that it's too sexy. They're picking teams! One woman sent me a list of songs that made her think of the characters! A playlist!! It's amazing. It's really strange and amazing.

Was there any inspiration for any of the characters?

Oh, definitely. Both boys are, in part, my husband and some of his male family and friends growing up. They were bad boys, real trouble-makers and rule-breakers, but they were all kind of romantics, too. And now that we're all grown up, I can see how each guy in his group found that one girl who helped him move past being a juvenile delinquent! And Brenna is definitely a huge mix of me, my sister, my friends growing up. I've always been really lucky to have very cool friends who have amazing hobbies and are so brilliant and funny!

Did you take personal experience and adapt it into the book?

One hundred percent. One reviewer said that no teenager is as respectful to her mom as Brenna is, and that made me giggle, because that is one part of Brenna that is all me and totally based on real life. And Brenna's mom is a lot like my mother, so their relationship is very close to home for me. All kinds of classes I took, dates I had, arguments, long phone conversations got drawn on and put into the book.

Can you tell us quick facts about Saxon and Jake?
Derek
Saxon has a photographic memory, a love of orange TicTacs, and a real desire to reform...at least a little. When I was trying to come up with his name, I thought about names I'd liked growing up, and a friend's boyfriend's name from highschool popped into my head. The Saxon I knew in real life is nothing like the character, but the name was a perfect fit!
Jackson
Jake is a terrible reader, but a natural with engines and engineering-type problems, has an amazing work ethic, and is a complete and utter romantic. When I was trying to come up with his name, I thought back to one of my favorite movies when I was a kid; The Newsies. A really young Christian Bale played Jack Kelly, a NY newspaper boy. Jake's name is a play on that character's.

Can you tell us seven random fun facts about you?

1. I lived in Denmark for a month when I was 14.

2. I was an English teacher.

3. My parents owned a 50's style restaurant when I was a teen, and I waitressed there in a poodle skirt.

4. I had to take ballet when I was a kid because I was severely pigeon-toed. Ballet fixed it!

5. I am addicted to Pandora and make YouTube playlists all the time.

6. I hand-made Team Jacob/Team Edward/Team Emmett shirts for me, my sister, and sister-in-law when we went to see New Moon.

7. My daughter and I were born in the same hospital in NJ.

Skinny Love by Birdy is Jake and Brenna's song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNzCDt2eidg

So here is the great news Liz is giving away one e-copy of Double Clutch and I am giving away four copies! WOO HOO! All you have to do is leave a comment and your e-mail address and on Friday we will pick the winners!

Memorable Quotes: Page 83 “Mason?” I said, panic thick in my voice.

“It’s okay. I’m outside, just come and let me in.”

I flew to the basement door, unlocked it, and fell into Mason’s arms. The cold night air curled around us, and I felt goose bumps spread up my bare arms. He nudged the door shut with his foot and reached back to lock it before half-carrying me back to my room.

“The fog, it was in here,” I said, my mouth dry and gritty. I shivered violently, and he pulled up my comforter and wrapped it around me.

“It‟s gone now. Look.” I squinted across my room and realized he was right. I took a few shaky breaths and couldn’t detect the foul stench. He scooted back so he was supported by my pillows and pulled me against him. I shivered less and less as Mason’s body heat warmed me. I focused on taking slow, even breaths.

Advice: This is a must read series! First book was EPIC!

The Reaping and The Reckoning by M. Leighton Character Snippets

The Reaping (The Fahllen, Book 1) The Reckoning (The Fahllen, #2)
(Leah)

A blur raced past me and, in an instant, Derek was flat on his back and Leah was opening her wide mouth of razor sharp teeth and sinking them into his neck. I screamed, probably loud enough to wake half the town, but Leah didn’t even look up.

Recovering fairly quickly, I saw Derek begin to struggle beneath Leah. I saw his arms come up to push at her, but he couldn’t move her. Gradually, his struggles lessened and he seemed to calm somewhat. My mind was racing as I watched him raise his arms once more, but then, much to my dismay, Derek wound his arms around Leah’s back as if to hold her close.

Confusion crowded in beside all the other myriad thoughts that were circulating through my mind. It took several long seconds for the shock and, yes admittedly a touch of hurt, to wear off. But when it did, my mind cleared enough to allow rational thought entrance.

Derek’s acquiescence had to be somehow related to Leah’s bite, I rationalized. Maybe it was like an aphrodisiac or something. Maybe that’s how people like her and Nathan were able to overcome their victims. I couldn’t be sure, but in my heart, I truly didn't believe that Derek’s reaction was of his own accord.

No sooner than a bit of relief coursed through me, I saw blood flow in a thin trickle from just below Derek’s ear to the ground. The bright red of the fluid coupled with the shock of seeing it pour so freely from him shook me from my thoughts with a jolt of pure fury.

Without thought as to what I would do, how I could help, I closed the small distance between Leah and me and I reached for her arm, intent on forcibly removing her from Derek if I had to. I knew the instant my skin made contact with hers that if I looked, I’d see the familiar flickers of lightning at my fingertips, and that’s how it must’ve felt to Leah.

(Jalicia)

“Jalicia, there’s still time. You can do the right thing, make a different choice. All you have to do is—”

“I know what I have to do,” she declared, cutting me off. “It’s just that I don’t want to. I know what’s ahead for me and I want it.”

I had no idea what to say to that, but it didn’t matter. Soon, I was no longer thinking of her declaration anyway.

Jalicia took a step toward me, her gruesome smile widening. After a short pause, she took another. Instinctively, I took a step backward. She gave a short bark of laughter and then took yet another step toward me. Needle of fear prickled along my spine as I took another step away and the backs of my calves met the cold porcelain of the tub.

“Don’t you ever get tired of being the good girl?” she asked, eyeing me coldly.

“I’m not the goo—”

“Who do you think you’re fooling, Carson? I’ve already seen too much. Grey and Leah have already shown me things. I don’t know why you’d want to be like this,” she sneered, pointing to me in a dismissive way, “when you could be like them.”

“What makes you think that their existence is so much better than mine? So much better than yours?”

Another bark of laughter.

“I’ve seen. I know. You were too late and you didn’t even know it.”

Happy Early Release Day Devour By Shelly Crane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Devour (Devour #1)

Clara has it all. A wrestling star boyfriend, popular friends, all the right school activities...pretty much a perfect life...up until her parents died. Now she lives with the Pastor and his family and though they take good care of her, she feels alone. Then her boyfriend, Tate, starts to show signs of trouble when a new guy, Eli, comes to town. Clara is fascinated with him but hides it until something happens. Eli confesses to her that she gives him something he's never had before...something he needs. Everything is about to change for this normal pretty popular girl in a supernatural way.

My Review:
Warning: This book will devour you!

My Rating: 10 of 10!

My Cover Thoughts: I love the cover! Shelly has done it again with an amazing cover! It is of a girl and a guy just lying in the grass just staring up into the sky looking at something. They are looking at something that makes them happy because they are smiling.

My Thoughts/Review: Shelly Crane has done it again. This series will have you on the edge of your seat. She sets the background in a world where hurt and devastation is all around. People will have to make choices and stand by the decision they make. Some people will gain friends and others will lose friends. Love is always there but is it real or fake?

Would you be able to stand against your friends? Would you stand up for someone you never hung out with? Would you hurt someone’s feelings just because everyone else did? Standing up to the school bullies is never easy enough but will you be devoured or will you be doing the devouring?

What happens when Clara falls for Eli? Will she love him or will he love her? Is he right for her or wrong for her? Will they be together? Clara already has a boyfriend she loves but will he be enough. Read on to find out what happens and see if you too will be devoured?

Memorable Quotes: ―I‘ve been called a tease before, I muttered thinking about Tate and then regretting it.

―You are not a tease. I asked for it didn‘t I? I won‘t get the wrong idea, I‘m glad to spend any time with you I can get. Sometimes...a kiss is just that.‖

I pulled him back to me and let him ravish my mouth furiously, turning in my seat to reach him better. His breaths were huffing like we were running a marathon and he groaned several times as my skin heated and he absorbed the want I felt for him and my happiness at the situation for the moment. It was odd to think that I was essentially feeding him what he needed to survive. When I ran my hand through his hair his grip tightened on me and he pulled me closer and I let him kiss me deeper.

I let him devour me.

Advice: Devour this book before it Devours You!

The Reckoning By M. Leighton Wednesday Character Grey

The Reckoning, The Fahllen Book 2 of 2

(Grey)
“I think you’d better mind your tone, Sis. You’re not really in a position to get snarky.”

She watched me for a moment and then a tiny, malicious smile curved her lips. Just when I was about to wonder what she was so smug about, all the vines at my four points began to pull away from my body simultaneously. The slow tugging was excruciating, what with my multiple possibly broken bones, but it was when my joints reached their limits that the true pain began.

I felt my right shoulder slip out of joint first. The agony stole the breath I would’ve needed to scream. It lodged in my throat, as if it might suffocate me. The dull pop of my left shoulder being unseated from its place in the joint nearly strangled me with the need to cry out, yet still I could not utter a single sound.

My head spun lightly for a moment before my hip slipping out of place wrenched me back into the torment of the moment. I arched my back, so as to expand my chest and ready it for the influx of air, but I could draw no breath to fuel my bellow.

My eyes flew to Grey’s. I saw the satisfied gleam in their black depths. She had stolen the air from around me. She was literally suffocating me with nothing more than her mind, with the use of her original power.

The Reckoning By M. Leighton Tuesday Character Derek

The Reckoning, The Fahllen Book 2 of 2

(Derek)

Taking the keys from my fingers, Derek pulled open the storm door and unlocked the knob, pushing the wooden panel wide and gesturing for me to precede him into the house. Once we were both inside, he pushed the door shut, pitched the keys on the small entry table and turned to me.

“I didn’t even get to hold you for one dance. Shall we?” he asked, stepping toward the center of the room and holding his hand out to me.

My humor gave way to the butterflies of anticipation as they flapped their wispy wings in my stomach. I was still smiling when I walked forward to slip my fingers into his.

“We shall,” I said, nodding formally. “Thank you, kind sir.”

With a flourish, he spun me around once then pulled me into his arms. With smoky eyes, he stared down at me.

“You have dirt and blood on your cheek,” he remarked, his lips twitching as he contained his grin.

I raised my free hand to wipe at it, but Derek caught it at the wrist.

“Don’t,” he commanded, his expression turning more serious. “You’re still the most beautiful date I’ve ever had.”
