Around The World ARC Tour Presents an Early Review for This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by Victoria Schwab

Synopsis:

There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy from author Victoria Schwab, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. The first of two books.

Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives.

Goodreads:

Review:

Okay this book was amazing I mean just amazing! I loved every minute of it. Victoria does such an awesome job at building a world that sucks you in and keeps you reading needing to know what is going to happen next.

Kate and August are complete opposites. They live in a world where violence breeds monsters real monsters. Kate wants to be like her father who is ruthless and takes no nonsense. He makes the humans pay for protection from the monsters. While August is trying to live a human life and not be the monster he should be. Being a monster is something he does not want to be.

When the two are thrown together and August wants to save Kate the two of them will have to make choices and decisions they never thought they would have to. Will they be friends or will they be enemies.......

The Story:

I am the product of a British mother, a Beverly Hills father, and a southern upbringing. Because of this, I have been known to say “tom-ah-toes”, “like”, and “y’all”. I also suffer from a wicked case of wanderlust, made worse by the fact that wandering is a good way to stir up stories. When I’m not haunting Paris streets or trudging up English hillsides, I’m usually tucked in the corner of a coffee shop, dreaming up monsters.

My first YA novel, THE NEAR WITCH, a dark original fairy tale, debuted with Disney*Hyperion in August 2011, and is now out in paperback.

My next YA novel, THE ARCHIVED, is the first book in a new supernatural series about a world where the dead are shelved like books, and it hits stores January 2013, also with Disney*Hyperion.

My first adult novel, VICIOUS, about two brilliant and highly disturbed pre-med students who set out to generate their own superpowers and end up mortal enemies, is out in hardcover from Tor September 2013.

I have more books coming out in 2014, but I’ll get to those later.

These days, when someone asks me what I do when I’m NOT writing, I just kind of laugh nervously. But in truth, on the odd occasion I’m not typing away, I’m probably baking cookies, or watching BBC shows, or wandering. (See how we came full circle, there?)

Around The World ARC Tours Presents an early review for And I Darken (The Conquerors Saga #1) by Kiersten White

Synopsis:

NO ONE EXPECTS A PRINCESS TO BE BRUTAL.

And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.

Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, who’s expected to rule a nation, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.

But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point.

From New York Times bestselling author Kiersten White comes the first book in a dark, sweeping new series in which heads will roll, bodies will be impaled . . . and hearts will be broken.

Goodreads:

Review:

Holy mother lover what did I just read..... I mean I knew coming into this that it had some historical background but man the way that Kiersten has weaved this story had me on the edge of my seat. I mean I saw how long the story was but once I started reading I just could not put it down.

In this story we meet three main characters lada and her brother radu. They are ripped from their family and placed in the Ottoman court. Lada hates it and tries everything in her power to buck the system and escape this life. All her brother wants is a place where he can call home and feel safe and secure.

Then there is Mehmed who is the sultan's son. He really amps up this story because radu finally finds a friend but Lada is skeptical because he is the son of the ruler she hates. How can they be friends or anything else. This is where the story kicks off and is something so amazing I am going to stop with my review right now so I don't give it away but I will say that this is a must read book. I need book two like ASAP!!!!!!

Until today. Today five of those kids return. They're sixteen, and they are . . . fine. Everyone wants answers. Most of all Max's sister Avery, who needs to find her brother--dead or alive--and isn't buying this whole memory-loss story.

Goodreads:

Review:

OMG This book is a thriller /suspense book and so much more all wrapped up in one book. I wanted to read this book because of the cover. After seeing the cover and reading the synopsis I knew I wanted to read this book and I was not disappointed.

This story is told from 3 POV's one from Scarlett, One from Lucas, and One from Max's sister. The story all starts out when six kindergarteners are taken and are gone for 11 years. When five of the kids come back they don't remember much let alone why they were taken and what happened to the six classmate that went missing Max.

When they return Max's sister wants to know what happened to him and wants to know whether or not he is alive or dead. She doesn't by the story of the other teens that they don't remember much. She wants her answers and wants them right now.

As Lucas and Scarlett tell their story you get this thriller/suspense story that is amazing and a must read.

Title: Finding Hope for Tomorrow (Tomorrows #2)

Release Date: April 26, 2016
Find on Goodreads

Every person’s life tells a story.

Some are uncomplicated, straightforward, and easy. Things fall into place with a simplicity that boggles the mind.

Others twist and turn, and every day is centered on fighting and scraping, yet never finding victory.

And then there are those who gain an inch only to be knocked back a foot. They love. They fight. They stumble. They fall. But through it all, they stagger to their feet, step back on life’s path, and push through until they win. For these people, happiness is not an illusion. It’s a truth, a promise, worth any effort, any scars, but just out of arm’s reach. It stands at the end of the path, taunting and teasing, tempting them to take one more blow.

And in the end, the battles make victory sweeter. More valued. More precious than ever imagined. More than any one person could hope.

This is Liam’s story.
Loyal, protective, shoulders stronger than Atlas'.
Broken, worn, battered.
Win or lose, he’s ready to fight for what tomorrow brings.

Life. Love. Healing. Hope.

Searching for Tomorrow (#1) – Released Oct 13, 2013

Some people are blessed to find that one certain person who completes them.

Wrynn’s yesterdays were what others only dream of having. She and Tripp were the best of friends before they even thought about love. They had the fairy tale life where ‘like’ turns into ‘love’, and ‘love’ becomes ‘happily ever after’...

What happens when life conspires against you, and snatches your soul mate from your arms?

… Only her forever love ended much too soon.

Broken beyond her own ability to repair, Wrynn boxes up her grief and attempts to raise her three girls the best she can on her own. As time slowly passes, Wrynn relives her life with Tripp while struggling most days to get out of bed. She is reminded of him at every turn.

How do you set your grief and anguish aside? How do you pick up the shattered pieces, put those pieces back together again, and try to move on?

Wrynn tries to find the joy in life every single day through her daughters, family, and friends. Her twin brother Liam has dedicated himself to helping Wrynn put her life back together after losing his own love. On the other hand, her mother-in-law lives to torment her at every turn. Wrynn can't even find a chance to breathe, much less a desire to somehow search for her tomorrow.

Kathryn is a simple country girl who likes to spend time with her family. Born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, she loves to travel, but can't imagine ever leaving the mountains she's come to call home. She holds Jeremiah 29:11 very close to her heart and believes it with every fiber of her being. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Jake Biondi reveals cover of fifth ‘BOYSTOWN’ book ‘BOYSTOWN Season Five’ release date is June 1

Jake Biondi reveals cover of fifth ‘BOYSTOWN’ book

‘BOYSTOWN Season Five’ release date is June 1

BOYSTOWN series author Jake Biondi has revealed the cover of the highly-anticipated fifth book of his BOYSTOWN series. BOYSTOWN Season Five will be released on June 1, 2016. The cover for the book, which was designed by Michael Vargas, features many of the famous BOYSTOWN boys whom readers have come to associate with the series.

“BOYSTOWN is a must-read series filled with twists and turns that everyone will love,” said BOYSTOWN team co-captain Cory Zwierzynski, who is featured on the new book cover. “I was so grateful when Jake Biondi asked me to join the BOYSTOWN team. As one of the original team members, I have watched the BOYSTOWN audience grow with the release of each installment of the series.” About Biondi, Zwierzynski said, “Working with Jake has been awesome. Over the past three years, we have gotten to know each other well and have become good friends. He knows how to tell a great story and keep the audience engaged from the very first page of each book. I am grateful to be one of the faces of BOYSTOWN.”

Matt O’Reilly, co-captain of the BOYSTOWN team of models, is also featured on the new book cover. “It’s an honor to be a BOYSTOWN team captain and be able to work with so many amazing guys,” O’Reilly said. He added, “I couldn’t be more excited for the next book in the BOYSTOWN series. If you thought the last four were great, just wait until you dig into this new one. You won’t be able to put it down.”

“The wait is nearly over,” Biondi told fans of his BOYSTOWN book series. “Due to the amazing success of the first four books in the series, fans from all over the world have been asking me when the fifth book would be released. They want to know what’s coming next for their favorite characters and couples. Well, their questions are about to be answered.”
When asked about the fifth BOYSTOWN book, Biondi said, “I think the word I’d use to describe the new book is ‘more.’ It’s the longest book in the series so far, so there’s more for readers to enjoy -- more romance, more friendship, more suspense, more drama, and certainly more twists and turns. I think readers will be surprised and excited with each turn of a page.”

Biondi added, “I am so grateful for my readers and their positive response to the series. I regularly receive notes from fans who are connecting with the characters and want to know what the future holds for them. The broad appeal of the book series is incredible. BOYSTOWN has a really diverse audience.”

Biondi promises that readers won’t be disappointed. “Season Five picks up right where book four left off and reveals the deaths of at least two major characters. While I won’t reveal who lives and who dies, I will say this: lives and relationships will be forever changed.” Biondi also previews that BOYSTOWN Season Five continues the storylines from the first four books while introducing new ones -- and some great new characters, too.

After reading an advance copy of BOYSTOWN Season Five, reviewer Roger Ward stated, “This latest book in the series solidifies my belief that Jake Biondi is one of the most masterful writers of fiction of our time.” He added, “The storyline is both riveting and addictive and will leave the reader dumbfounded by the unending suspense and intrigue found on nearly every page of the book.”

As in his other books, Biondi “pays it forward” by featuring some of his favorite performers in BOYSTOWN Season Five. Biondi is “thrilled” to again present sensational singer Chadwick Stadt in the BOYSTOWN series. “Chadwick is a dear friend and a phenomenal performer, so it’s an honor for me to be able to showcase his talent again in Season Five,” Biondi said. Stadt added, “It's so exciting to be included in such a great book series that will have you turning page after page!”

Season Five also welcomes back the “Whiskey & Cherries” trio, singer Amy Armstrong, and pop sensation Steve Grand. “Meredith, Danielle, and I are thrilled to again be written into the BOYSTOWN series. It’s always exciting to read about yourself interacting with the primary characters and being a part of the never-ending twists and turns in the brilliant plot line,” said Brian Felder of W&C.

The BOYSTOWN series has a fascinating history. It began as an online story released in installments, each ending with a cliffhanger that left readers wondering what would happen to their favorite characters. Enthusiastic BOYSTOWN fans from all over the world petitioned Biondi to release the installments more quickly; they simply couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. Overwhelmed by and grateful for the fans’ responses to the series, Biondi began to write more quickly and also began to publish the series in book format.

Like the first four books, BOYSTOWN Season Five will be available at bookstores across the country as well at online at amazon.com, bn.com, and iTunes. The series is available in paperback, audio book, and all e-book formats. Readers may order autographed paperback copies of the books directly from BoystownTheSeries.com. Season Five is currently available for pre-order on Kindle and iTunes.

Biondi is working with two television producers who are interested in bringing the BOYSTOWN series to television. Biondi remains optimistic that fans all over the world will soon be able to watch their favorite BOYSTOWN characters in action on television. Zwierzynski said, “BOYSTOWN will make a fantastic TV series because it presents a diverse group of characters that appeal to a wide reading and viewing audience.”

The BOYSTOWN series is also now available on audio-book. Narrator Zachary Liebenstein is the ‘voice’ of the BOYSTOWN series. “I consistently felt myself immersed in the BOYSTOWN world. It had a way of always making me feel like I wasn't even reading it, but just experiencing it. I love the depth of the characters and well thought out story lines. When I am the voice of a book it really helps when I can relate and get into the characters and BOYSTOWN does just that, and more! I was welcomed to the BOYSTOWN team with open arms and am so excited to work with everyone!!” Liebenstein stated.

As an Olympic rookie, Andie Foster has spent far more time in her cleats than between the sheets. For 21 years, her Fridaynights have consisted of blocking shots rather than taking them. But now that she's landed in Rio, she's ready to see for herself if the rumors about the Olympic Village are true:

The athletes are all sex-crazed maniacs...
The committee passes out condoms like candy...
The games continue long after the medals have been handed out...

As Andie walks the line between rumor and reality, she's forced into the path of Frederick Archibald, a decorated Olympic swimmer and owner of a sexy British accent—too bad he's unavailable in a way that "it's complicated" doesn't even begin to explain.

In other words: off limits.

It doesn't matter that he has abs that could bring peace to the Middle East and a smile that makes even the Queen blush; Andie fully intends on keeping her focus on the soccer field. But the Village is small. Suffocating. Everywhere Andie goes, Freddie happens to be there—shirtless, wet from the pool, and determined to show her a whole new meaning of the phrase "international affairs".

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things... everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I'm a comedy geek and love all things "funny". Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.

On sale for $0.99 for a limited time!

"I want to know your secrets.” I walk to the sink and drop the dishes in, waiting.

Skyler leans against the wall and crosses her arms. “Oh yeah? In poker or in life?”

I tuck my hands in my pockets and shrug, my eyes locked on hers. “Both.”

She stays there for a while, smiling and scrutinizing me at the same time. Suddenly, her face falls, and I feel the same resistance from earlier stretch between us like a tense rubber band. “I should probably go,” she says, lifting from the wall.

I check my watch. “Why don’t we go watch the sunrise? It’ll be up in twenty minutes.”

Skyler chews her cheek, her foot tapping on the floor. “I don’t know, I think this would be a lot easier if I left now.”

I shake my head, walking toward her. “What do you mean by this?”

She goes to back up but hits the wall. “This. Us. I just, I don’t think we should get caught up. I have to focus on poker this semester and you’re pledging. It would just be easier if we didn’t complicate things.”

I keep walking until our chests touch and place my hands on the wall around her head, my face inches from hers. Her breath hitches in her throat, but her bright blue eyes don’t leave mine.

“Baby, you made me lick tequila off you the first night we met. This is nothing if not complicated.”

Kandi Steiner is a Creative Writing and Advertising/Public Relations graduate from the University of Central Florida living in Tampa with her husband. Kandi works full time as a social media specialist, but also works part time as a Zumba fitness instructor and blackjack dealer.

Kandi started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a die hard hopeless romantic (like most girls brought up on Disney movies).

When Kandi isn’t working or writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys beach days, movie marathons, live music, craft beer and sweet wine – not necessarily in that order.

I was once told I was unbreakable and I believed it.
But when everything I held dear was lost, I had no choice but to shatter.

Every day, Kat laces up her gloves and fights away her demons.
When fighting doesn't subside the pain, scotch and promiscuity beckon.
Her life has no purpose.
She has no viable future.
And she wishes she'd never met Kevin Fitzpatrick.

He annoys her profusely.
He asks too many questions.
He follows her like a stalker.

But, strangely, she can't seem to tear herself away from him.
There is something about him she can't shake.

Kat has secrets, but so do the people who claim to have her best interests at heart.
When all is revealed and the dust settles, will Kat be knocked down for the count, once and for all?
Or can the pieces of her broken past help her become indestructible once again?

“Why are you here?” I ask as I sniffle.

“Have you been crying?” Kevin replies, setting the bowl down onto the coffee table.

Placing the backside of my hand under my nose, I lie. “It’s just a cold.” I reach for a box of tissues nearby.

“I don’t believe you.”

I turn back to him, raise my arm, and point toward the door. “You can leave,” I demand.

“Kat, please. Don’t shut me out. I thought…I thought we were in a good place with each other.”

I shake my head. “Don’t act like you want to be close to me. You and Jo are only using me as some sort of humanity project.”

“It’s not like that at all. We want to help you heal,” Kevin implores.

“I have Robitussin. I’ll be fine.”

“No, that’s not what I mean and you know it. We want to help you heal from what’s made you so bitter about life.”

“Why do you care?” I asked, agitated by his efforts.

“Because I do.”

I sit on the sofa with a huff. “I’m fine.”

“Kat, look at me. You are not fine. Just tell me why and I’ll listen.”

“I don’t need a protector.”

“That’s apparent from the ninja skills you performed the other night.”

I roll my eyes. “I don’t need a babysitter either. I am a grown up.”

Kevin sits beside me, a little closer than I’m comfortable with. “I don’t want to protect you. I don’t want to babysit you. I want to be your friend. Maybe, more than a friend.”

My eyes go wide. I have no response.

“I care about you and I don’t care if you want me to or not. I do and it’s out of my control. And I don’t care whether you believe that I care about you. I’m not trying to use you. Neither is Jo. We’re not going to give up on you–” he points a finger to his chest, “I’m not going to give up on you.”

I take in his words but quickly reject them. “Sometimes, giving up is not your choice to make,” I say, sternly, trying desperately hard not to cry.

“Whose choice is it then?” Kevin asks.

I look at him. “Whoever controls fate.”
