Wake By Abria Mattina Blog Tour and Book Review

Wake
Eighteen isn’t too young to run your life into the ground, but it’s not too old to fix it, either. The desire for change drives Willa Kirk from St. John’s, Newfoundland back to her hometown of Smiths Falls, Ontario, away from her mistakes and the place where her sister died. She’s looking for a place to settle and rebuild, but Jem Harper just wants to get out of town, back to the life he knew before cancer. By letting the tragedies in their lives define them, they are both dying a little more every day. Welcome to the wake.

My Review

First I MUST start this review off by saying I HAVE NEVER read a book that had so many things tie in to one thing. Abria has done a PHENOMENAL job of weaving a story of love, loss and secrets. Where decisions are made and consequences are suffered. I was so emotional reading this book because I had just finished another book that dealt with Cancer and loss.

Jem was a very interesting character for me because he was a snarky little thing. He was angry and confused and hurt and scared all in one and hid it well from his family and friends. He is very close to his little sister and they share every thing and she even gives up her room so he can have privacy when he is sick. He is in remission from the cancer but he is sick from all the medicine and very cranky.

Then Jem starts school again after thr treatments but his heart just isn't there because he is always tired and sick. But he keeps going to school and it is there that he meets the new girl Willa. Although he finds out she is not new at all because she used to live there but then she moved away and now she is back. They start off with a lot of banter and snarkiness between them because Willa dishes out what he gives her. They have this love hate relationship and go through a lot together.

Willa has secrets and she is willing to go to the grave with them because all she wants to do is forget. She moves in with her brother to start a new life and move on from the death of her sister from Cancer. She becomes friends with Jem and treats him like he is not sick. They share a lot in common and they are good for one another. Willa realizes that Jem needs her in so many ways and she is willing to help him.

This story was so heart wrenching and so intense that at times I was laughing and crying all in one. This is a must read because it delves into emotions and situations that may arise for so many teens that are sick or who have family members that sre sick. It will take you on an emotional ride and in the end it will leave you breathless.

While I was reading this book a song came to mind that reminded me of Jem and Willa. My Love by Sia and here is the link to the video http://youtu.be/mtM_cc4SPJI

A Place In This Life By Julie Rieman Duck Blog Tour and Book Review

A Place in This Life

A Place in This Life
For Natalie Miller, it’s just another family vacation. For someone else, it’s the opportunity he’s been waiting for.

With only a single peck from a guy named Frank, Natalie’s anything but experienced with boys. But when Todd pops out of the water, says hi, and tells Natalie he has leukemia, all of that changes.

She’s never had attention like this from a boy, let alone one who’s a real charmer with sex on the brain and the experience to match. Drawn to Todd like a magnet, Natalie gives him her friendship, her love, and her body. Even when she’s tempted by gorgeous, healthy schoolmate Alex, Natalie’s desire to love and care for Todd pushes her to see how far love can go in spite of the potential for death of the relationship — and death of the one she loves.

My Review and thoughts

First I would like to thank Julie and Amanda Paduella for allowing me to be a part of this blog tour. I have no idea where to start with this review. I have so many emotions running through me right now. This story is so gripping from the very start that it tugs at your heart. It is a story about firsts, first love, first loss, and first intimacy.

Natalie is seventeen and innocent. She has just finished her sophomore year and is starting the summer. She is going on a family vacation she does not want to go on but while there she meets a guy her age. Todd is on vacation recovering from Leukemia. He sees Natalie and is instantly intrigued with her. They spend a few days together and decide they want to carry this on after they get back home. Todd has to go back for more Chemo treatment and wants Natalie by his side. Natalie decides she wants to stand by Todd and be there for him because she cares for him.

As Natalie and Todd begin on the road of a relationship things seem to be going good. Natalie is loving and caring towards Todd even when Todd worries about dying. As their relationship progresses things start to happen. The story starts to unfold and things start to happen between Todd and Natalie and their are choices made that are difficult for them but what would love be without boundaries being tested. Can Natalie and Todd survive this relationship? Will Todd beat this cancer?

This story had me laughing and crying. I really enjoyed how Julie incorporated so many things from losing your virginity to first loves to death. Careless choices are made and what happens from there is a spiral effect that you never see coming because you are wrapped up in the story you don't see it coming. New loves are formed and new friendships are made but in the end the question remains will Natalie and Todd find a place in this life.

This is a must read! I have so many favorite quotes but here are a few. I hope you enjoy this book as must as I have.
“Natalie Miller, I love you and would never hurt you,” he said, petting my hair, hugging me even closer. I could feel newfound strength in his every muscle.
I said nothing as I collapsed into him and his life, whatever kind of life it was. Running from Todd was like running from a living-breathing problem. There was no real escape. I wanted to be near him, to breathe him, to protect him from ever hurting again. Never to be sick again, never to feel
alone again. It was my soul calling, and I couldn’t deny it.

We walked down the path, holding hands, and stopped to take in the expansive view of the ocean. The sun sparkled like stars as its light danced on the water. There was no visible smog belt, but only clear views to Catalina and beyond. Looking back at Alex, I squeezed his hand and felt that at last, I had found my place in this life.

My song for this book is by 3 Doors Down Here By Me

Across The Galaxy's New Cover Reveal and Relaunch Party

Heather Hildenbrand has decided to do a makeover for Across The Galaxy. I am so happy to be a part of this cover reveal. Heather is a GREAT writer whose work draws you in and makes you feel a part of that world. So when I heard she was having a cover reveal for ATG I just had to be a part of this exciting new chapter for Heather.

Here is the old cover.......
‘LAUNCH INTO THE GALAXY’ Blog Hop and Giveaway

This week marks the re-launch of Heather Hildenbrand’s YA fantasy, Across The Galaxy.

Here’s what Heather says about it:

For me, January marked one year as a published author and to mark that, I wanted to do something special to celebrate how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time. I can think of no better way to celebrate than to show some love to the title that got me here in the first place. Across The Galaxy was my first book and as a result, was also my guinea pig in a lot of ways. Through publishing it, I learned so much and met so many awesome bloggers and readers that I am so grateful for that story and for where it took me. For everything it’s given me, I want to give something back to it. (Yes, I realize I’m referring to my book as if it were a real person. Don’t you do that with the characters inside it? Yeah, I’m not the only crazy here.)

So, I found one of the best cover artists EVER and together we came up with a brand new cover that will basically rock your socks. Not sure? Take a minute. Go stare at the new cover and then come back and finish reading. I’ll wait. It’s worth it.

… Now, with a change this big, we aren’t stopping with just a cover reveal. That’s just not enough. So, we’re also doing an e-book giveaway here and another e-book giveaway on every site participating in the “LAUNCH INTO THE GALAXY” Hop this week so be sure to stop everywhere. In addition to THAT, I am also running a giveaway on my publisher’s site at www. Accendopress.com and another one on my personal site at www.heatherhildenbrand.blogspot.com that will include a signed paperback and a very sleek and sexy, leather Kindle cover. Be sure to check that out! And be sure to leave a comment and let us know what you think of the new cover!

About The Book:

Alina Leone is in hiding.

Her parents are dead, her best friend is a horse, and she can’t return to her home planet of Gliese until the Shadows, the monsters who hunt for her, are found and destroyed.

But they found her first. The same creatures that murdered her parents and forced her to flee to Earth all of those years ago. And they’ll stop at nothing to destroy the only thing standing in their way for universal domination – Alina.

She must find the strength to defeat them, even if it means choosing between victory and the one she was meant to save…

And here is the new cover.......

So what do you think....... I LOVE IT!

Happy Makeover Across The Galaxy!

Bewitched
Amber Reed is a dead girl walking.

Having just been turned by her gorgeous vampire boyfriend, eighteen-year-old Amber Reed is bestowed with the ability to see ghosts. Between trying to figure out how to control her blood lust and solving the mysterious disappearance of a friend, Amber realizes someone wants to step into her shoes so badly, they’ll do anything to take her place.

When one secret after another pops up, the only person who believes her is her enemy, Devon. Amber can’t figure out if he’s here to help or save his own immortal race from losing the ancient war against the vampires. What she does know, however, is that she can’t resist his good looks just as much as she can’t help becoming someone else…

In a world of dark magic and ancient enemies, three powerful courts fight for supremacy, and Amber might just be the pawn in winning this war forever. But how’s a girl to survive when everyone wants her dead?

Excerpt from the book.......

Prologue

A full-blown confrontation wasn't Gael’s style. In fact, he prided himself on his talent for stakeouts; lurking in the corner, invisible to the mortal eye, stalking his victims to learn everything about them, until he could finally strike. This particular victim, however, was better protected than a queen. Certainly not his usual, easy stalk, but Gael liked a challenge. It gave winning more meaning. And Gael was a winner all the way.

He blew a gust of hot breath into his hands to keep them warm, his eyes all the while focused on the hidden entrance in the rock formation. The place was concealed by twisting pines and towering ferns, so no human would ever stumble upon it. Gael watched the thick branches stirred by the howling wind. Not only was it well hidden, it was creepy too, just like the freaky child queen herself. He let the word roll on his tongue, testing the sound of it. Shadow land—a hidden civilization that had been untouched by the outside world for thousands of years. It was the place where he belonged. He knew it because he had been dreaming about it for as long as he could remember. Queen Deidre resided in the mausoleum, probably feeding from her own people’s life essence that very instant. He had once offered his help to save her soul from her dying body, but she had brushed him off like an annoying fly. Disrespected him. He consoled himself that he would have the last laugh eventually. Once their most precious possession was gone, so was Queen Deidre, and he would be owner of both thrones: the Shadows’ and the Lore court’s.

Glancing up at the inscription carved deep into the granite, he recognized the words immediately—it was an ancient language and Queen Deidre’s trademark warning. Immortals knew not to cross into her territory, unless they wished to face her wrath. Well, he wasn't any immortal, and soon everyone would find out.

The full moon cast a glowing light on the tall trees. The cool September breeze seeped under his dark cloak and turned his skin into goose bumps. He hated how vulnerable his mortal body was and how much the Scottish weather got to him. Irritated, he wrapped his cloak tighter around him and scanned the familiar darkness for the umpteenth time, even though he knew the girl and boy wouldn’t arrive for another minute or two when the turning would finally begin. He had watched the entire procedure for days now. It always followed the same routine.

Eventually, a soft crack carried through the air and the opening in the mountain widened. The boy emerged first, followed by the girl. She was wearing the same jeans, gray top and black, hip-long jacket as the night before. Her long, jet-black hair was tied up in a ponytail, bouncing slightly as she took a tentative step forward. The soft light of the moon revealed the hesitation on her face and in her dark blue eyes.

“Angel,” the boy said softly, his palm reaching out to cup her face.

She jumped a step back, as though his touch seared her skin. “No, Brendan. Nothing’s changed, so don’t you dare touch me.”

The boy remained silent as he regarded her. A moment later, the moon broke from behind the clouds, illuminating his dark clothes and shiny hair that brushed the collar of his long coat. It was the way the Shadows dressed, the way Gael liked to dress to pretend he was one of them. The soft rays of light gave Brendan’s perfect skin a bronze hue. For a moment, the boy looked like a statue, so graceful, so terribly cold. And then the changing began.

The ground shook slightly as Brendan’s skin grew pallid and clammy, and a growl rose in his throat. His pupils slowly dilated before his eyelids shut. The wind began to blow harder, swaying the summer leaves in the trees. Angel flinched but didn’t retreat. Brendan’s face remained expressionless as he dropped to his knees and threw back his head, bursting through his clothes. His arms and legs shortened, his muscles bulged as dark fur began to sprout from his human skin. A long and painful howl rippled through his chest the same moment his face morphed into that of a large wolf with black eyes that seemed to absorb the light. Whimpering, the wolf moved closer to Angel and buried his snout into her palm, as though to smell her even though no Shadow could smell or sense another.

Angel pulled away whispering, “Go away, Brendan.” With a last glance back, the wolf took off through the trees and disappeared into the night. She didn’t leave straight away. She never did. It was her only chance of being alone, without the Shadows’ supervision. This was his cue. He had been working on his plan for weeks; it wasn’t perfect but Gael was determined to make the best of it. He had met with her for almost a week; same time, same place, never long enough to answer her questions. He had earned her trust, awakened her curiosity, and now he was about to bring his mission to a fruitful climax. One that would shake the Shadows’ world.

Carefully, he straightened from his crouching position and began to move toward her. “Angel.” His voice came low and soothing, supposed to instill trust and confidence in her. It was the same voice he used when talking to a child.

Angel didn’t flinch when she turned to face him, which was a good sign. The girl thought herself safe. They all did. He stopped a few feet away from her to give her space. It was yet another one of his strategies to make her believe his words.

“You’re back,” Angel whispered. In the light of the moon, she looked younger than seventeen, and certainly not strong enough to fulfill the purpose the Shadows had in store for her.

Gael smiled even though he wasn’t sure she could see his face in the darkness. “I told you I’d come to get you.”

Her big eyes sparkled with curiosity. “Right. But I’m not going. Not until you answer my questions.” She strained to peer beneath his hood to make out his features, but he kept his head slightly bowed so the moon wouldn’t reveal his identity. That part would come later.

He heaved an exaggerated sigh. “Angel, you have to trust me because I’m one of you. Or how else could I have crossed the perimeter?” His answer seemed to please her, and her stance relaxed a little.

“I don’t understand this secrecy.”

“Is Brendan gone?” Gael asked, ignoring her unspoken question.

She nodded. “He’ll be back at sunrise.”

“We need to talk,” Gael said.

“You keep saying that, but you never tell me about what.” Her voice still didn’t convey any sort of mistrust. She most certainly thought he was one of them. He liked that.

“There’s something Deidre never told you. I think it’s time you knew the truth. Come, walk with me.” In a bold moment of sheer folly, he reached out his hand, not really expecting her to grab it. But she did. Her fingers touched his, sending a familiar jolt of electricity down his back. His powers began to tingle beneath his skin, so exquisite, so close, and yet so far away.

“I can’t walk too far. You know the rules,” she said.

“Rules are meant to be broken. I promise nothing will happen to you.”

She hesitated but eventually let him lead her away from the entrance. His hand clasped hers as he guided her through the trees. The clouds parted and the moon illuminated their way. He could still spy the entrance in the distance when Angel halted, and he knew that was about as far as she’d go.

“Okay,” she said, pulling her hand free. “Tell me.”

“It’s a secret, Angel. You mustn’t reveal it to anyone.”

“Is that why you’re not showing your face?” she asked.

“You want to see my face?” She nodded. He smiled at her childlike enthusiasm at the outlook of mystery and excitement. It probably was a welcome diversion in her otherwise dreary existence. “Promise me you won’t tell anyone.”

“I promise,” she whispered.

Slowly, he pulled his hood back to reveal his face. She had never seen him before, but he knew she couldn’t miss the resemblance, unless she didn’t own a mirror.

A tiny gasp escaped her throat. Her eyes widened as she regarded his face with the same straight nose, high cheekbones and full lips. Even the eyes were alike, dark and deep, full of secrets and a past that was long erased from her memory.

“I’m your brother,” he said in the most tender voice he could muster. Seconds passed by. The wind blew her hair away from her face, revealing surprise, fear, shock, and uncertainty as she tried to process the little information he just gave her.

“I thought my family was dead.” Angel’s voice sounded chocked. He grabbed her hands, unsure how she’d react if he hugged her. He decided it wasn’t worth the risk.

“That’s just one of many lies Queen Deidre told you.”

She shook her head. “But why would she do that? The Shadows have been nothing but kind to me.”

“It’s a ploy to get your cooperation, Angel. Deidre feeds on her people’s life essence. Soon, she will start to feed on yours because you’re strong. Your life essence will help her body heal so she can become what she once was.” He drew a deep breath, preparing himself for the most important part. “Listen, I came to get you because you’re not safe here. You’re not safe anywhere, unless you come with me.”

She didn’t argue. Maybe someone had told her about Queen Deidre before. Or maybe she had found out on her own. Either way, Angel’s knowledge aided his plea. Her brows drew to a frown. “How do I know you’re telling me the truth about who you are?”

He had sensed she’d ask this question, so he had known to prepare. “We both carry a mark in the shape of a half moon a few inches below the right collarbone.”

“Someone could’ve told you that.”

The girl was clever, he had to admit that. “Of course. But there’s something no one else knows, something you never dared to tell anyone. You have a certain reaction to touch that isn’t normal. That’s why you don’t want your boyfriend to touch you, even though you’re his bonded mate. You’re scared of what you could do to him.”

“How did you know that about me and Brendan?” she whispered.

“I’m your brother, remember? I’m a part of you. But you needn’t worry. I’ll take this secret to my grave because blood runs thicker than water.”

That seemed to please her. Her lips curved into a hesitant smile only to disappear an instant later. “Why has Deidre never told me I have family?”

“Because she wants you to think you’re alone. She wants you to trust them,” Gael said.

She moistened her lips, her voice quivering with emotion as she tried to understand the magnitude of her situation. “I’ve been thinking about your words. If you’re my brother, why didn’t we grow up together? And how did you find me?”

“I told you, I’ve been searching for you my entire life. Several times I lost hope, but I never gave up. When I found out you were here, captured by the Shadows, and that your life was at stake, I had to come to your rescue. That’s why I’m here, but you have to leave before it’s too late.”

A tear slid down her cheek. “How could they lie to me that I have no family when they knew I so desperately wished for one?”

“I know you have a lot of questions, and I promise I’ll answer them all later,” Gael said. “But right now we’re in great danger,” Gael said, slowly losing his patience. He knew the girl would start asking questions. He just never figured she wouldn’t know when to stop.

Angel shook her head. “Of course. I understand. I want to learn more about my past, but I can’t leave. If I leave, I’ll die.

“That’s another lie. You’ve been fed their crap long enough.” He grabbed her hands and forced her to look at him. “I won’t let anything happen to you, but you’ve got to trust me. You don’t know the Shadows like I do. They’re capable of anything.” He could see her resolve slowly crumbling, her little mind sucking in every word of familial love and bonding that came out of his mouth. She had been abandoned at birth; it was only natural that she craved what she never had. It made her trusting, putty in his hands. “You’re not dying without them. It’s just a spell they put on you, making you feel faint and weak when you’re away. Once the spell’s broken, so are their powers over you.”

Angel took a deep breath. “And you know how to break the spell?”

“Yes.” This part wasn’t even a lie. He had researched his kind. No Shadow spell could keep someone like Angel imprisoned for life. But their mind games could. “I’ll pick you up tomorrow night after Brendan’s turning. Twenty-four hours should give me enough time to come up with a plan to get you out of here.”

He could see a flicker of hope in her young eyes, as though her life had just received new meaning. She bobbed her head in agreement, and smiled. He smiled back as he whispered, “Promise me you won’t tell anyone, otherwise we’re both dead.”

“I promise,” she said, touching her index finger against her lips, as though to seal her words.

“I’m Gael, by the way,” he said, pulling his hood deep over his face. “Come on. We’ve got to get you back before anyone starts missing you.”

“Gael,” she repeated quietly, and he knew in that instant he was about to change her life.

Now my jaw was on the floor. “You don’t even know what ALA is!”
“American Library Association midwinter event,” he said, grinning proudly. “Saw you obsessing over it on your blog before you got sick. I’m pretty sure you said you’d give up your firstborn child to go.”
Yeah, I kind of did say that.
Daemon eyes flashed. “Anyway, back to the whole you wanting me part.”
I shook my head, dumbfounded.
“You do want me.”
Taking a deep breath, I struggled with my temper… and my amusement. “You are way too confident.”
“I’m confident enough to wager a bet.”
“You can’t be serious.”
He grinned. “I bet that by New Year’s Day, you will have admitted that you’re madly, deeply, and irrevocably—”
“Wow. Want to throw another adverb out there?” My cheeks were burning.
“How about irresistibly?”
I rolled my eyes and muttered, “I’m surprised you know what an adverb is.”
“Stop distracting me, Kitten. Back to my bet—by New Year’s Day, you’ll have admitted that you’re madly, deeply, irrevocably, and irresistibly in love with me.”
Stunned, I choked on my laugh.
“And that you dream about me.” He released my arm and folded his, cocking an eyebrow. “I bet you’ll even admit that. Probably even show me your notebook with my name circled in hearts—”
“Oh, for the love of God…”
Daemon winked. “It’s on.”

She lacks the backbone to stand up for herself and confidence that Ashton wears like a crown.

Lana McDaniel has lived her life in her cousin's shadow. While Lana struggled with her grades no matter how hard she tried, her mother praised Ashton's intelligence. She hadn’t been blessed with Ashton’s blond hair and flawless skin, but that didn't keep her mother from lamenting her naturally red hair and freckles. But none of that would have mattered if Ashton hadn’t always had Sawyer Vincent wrapped around her finger -- the only boy Lana wanted. Once Ashton let Sawyer go, Lana had been so sure that he’d move on. Determined to make Sawyer finally see her, she'd talked her mother into letting her spend the summer with Ashton. But Sawyer is still in love with Ashton, and Lana isn’t going to be anyone's rebound girl. No matter how yummy Sawyer Vincent’s kisses taste.

“accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so

It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate
has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him
hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn't let her die before,

Chapter 1

Finn

Sometimes Emma made me feel so alive, I almost forgot I was dead.

Almost.

I sank down onto the side of her bed, amazed by the blazing wildfire that swept through me whenever Emma was near enough to touch. I took a deep, unneeded breath, and settled down on my side next to her. The mattress didn’t sink. The springs didn’t groan with the weight of an extra body. The distance between us was an impossible void. Inches that might as well have been miles. Miles that left me wanting in so many ways that I ached.

Even the sun couldn’t resist her. Its glowing rays caressed her skin, and stained her hair the satiny color of summer wheat. Before I knew what was happening, my hand followed their lead. Cells ignited. My skin burned, screaming with the agonizing need to touch—

“What do you think you’re doing?”

I jerked my hand away just as Easton melted up from the polished hardwood floor beneath the window. Like an oil slick coming to life, he unfolded his long, shadowy legs until he was just an ink blot against the square of tangerine sunrise behind him. His violet eyes pinned me like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Which, I kind of was.

“Nothing,” I lied.

“Yeah, looked like nothing.” He strolled across the room accompanied by a wave of sulfur and smoke, the black serpent tattoo on his neck glinting. “What were you planning to do, recite her poem? I swear to God, if you were still alive I’d confiscate your man card.”

I ignored the barb and scrunched up my nose. “Jesus, Easton. Don’t they have a shower somewhere between here and the afterlife?”

“Screw you. You didn’t just have to tow somebody’s grandpa to Hell.” He brushed something chalky and grey off of his cloak and a shudder worked its way down my spine. God only knows who or what it belonged to. “Besides I wasn’t the one about to feel up a sleeping human.”

“I wasn’t—”

“Save it.” He waved his hand. “We have work to do. I don’t have time for your useless obsession with the human today.”

“Will you please stop calling her that?”

“What?” Easton glanced up from Emma’s vanity, where he’d been inspecting the various lotions and bottles like he was on some alien planet. Then again, Easton had been dead for something like four hundred years, so all of her stuff probably wassort of alien to him.

“The human. You make me sound like a freak. It’s not like we’re a different species for God’s sake. We were humans, too, or don’t you remember that far back?”

“Were. Past tense.”

We could have gone back and forth like that for hours, but the call came. It always did. It started in my bones—a cold so cutting that it sliced through me like a machete. When I looked up, Easton’s jaw was clenched, his muscles taut and ready. He slowly closed his hand around the handle of his scythe that burned black and softly smoked at his side. I flexed my fingers as the icy ribbons of death worked their way through each one of my limbs.

“Can you take this one for me?” I asked. “You’re already going to be there, and I just got back—”

“No,” Easton said. “Hell no. I have my own job to do. I can’t keep covering for your sorry ass. Besides, you’re already on thin ice with Balthazar. Don’t push your luck, Finn. Just keep your nose down, collect your souls, and thank the Almighty that you don’t have my job. Now let’s go.”

“Yeah, but…” My eyes returned to Emma. Sleeping. Perfect. Safe.

“For the love of God. She’ll be fine, you pansy.” Easton clamped a hand over my shoulder and dragged me from the bed.

“How do you know?”

He shrugged. “I don’t.”

With that he vanished, consumed in a flash by the keening wails of the damned. The screams beckoned. Clawed at me from the inside out.

Rule one as a seeker: Death doesn’t wait for anyone.

And it sure as hell wasn’t waiting for me now.

After losing his life-long love, Miranda Reid, to Derek Gainnes, he is faced with a new reality that has caused him to abandon love altogether. Meeting Mara - exotic, beautiful, sexy - on the flight back to California provided him with a welcome distraction to take his mind off his pain. Still, his days are a blur, and his nights are spent drowning in memories.

Summoned back east to photograph the wedding of his friends, Nick Flaherty and Carrie Mayer, he reluctantly returns to the one place that he swore he'd never would. Six months away have changed Bryan. And when he arrives, the rest of the Circle find that he hasn’t come alone. Something dark and sinister has come with him. Something that is determined to keep him at all costs.

But waiting there for Bryan is a second chance...one that just might save his life.

My Review
I absolutely love a story with Angels, Demons, And hard decisions to make! Man you think that would spell disaster but in this story there is so much going on that you are instantly thrown into the story and can't put the book down. You have to keep reading until the end because you want no scratch that you need to find out what happens.

I want to thank LA for allowing me to read and review the second book in her trilogy series. When I started reading it I could not put it down. I was so intrigued by Bryan and his trials and tribulations I had to keep reading to find out what happened to him.

The story starts six months after Pursuit. Bryan has gone back to California with his head between his legs and heart broken over Miranda. The love of his life has decided to move on with Bryan and she is happily dating Derek. On his way home from NJ to California Bryan meets a beautiful women Mara. He talks to her so he can get over Miranda and it seems to be working because it is six months later and Bryan is in Mara land. She has moved in with him and he is living his life with her.

Then his best friend from back home is getting married and her fiance suggest using Bryan as the photographer for the wedding. Carrie is a little worried because she has not seen or heard from Bryan in six months. She knows he is still reeling over the lose of Miranda and he definitely does not want to come back home to Jersey and see Miranda. But Carrie's fiance Ni ck is determined to bring Bryan back home under any circumstances because he has a bad feeling that something is going to happen to Bryan if he stays out there in California.

So Nick keeps calling Bryan until he agrees to come back and Photo the wedding. What happens next is a mystery to Bryan and others around him. He is quickly swept up into the past and trying very hard not to run from it. He meets up with Carrie's cousin Cassidy and he starts to feel like his old self but there are other forces out there that want Bryan and will stop at nothing to get him.

What unfolds next is a series of trials and tribulations for Bryan but with someone on his side he can make it or so he is starting to think. What will Bryan do? Will he turn to the Devil and his demonic minions or will he follow The Lord and his Angels? Will love heal his heart and will he be able to give his heart to the one that he truly loves. Your just going to have to read it to find out. You will not be disappointed I promise!

My world exists in words.

When this wonderful world was opened up to me at a young age, a passionate love of reading developed. I am rarely seen without a book, and at any given time there are at least twenty or more waiting in my “to-read” piles.

And, of course, reading them led to writing them.

For as long as I can remember, I have written stories. Family and friends have patiently listened to my tales and encouraged me when I decided to turn a childhood dream into reality.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to have someone believe in my stories and publish them.

In the series there is a lot of talk about stones here is what LA has to say about the stones:

Falling In Between By Devon Ashley Book Review

Falling in Between by Devon Ashley
Finally! A private conversation. And all I had to do was throw myself off a cliff, drown in a pond in my undies and let him put his hands on my breasts to bring me back to life. Yay me! (yeah, that’s sarcasm)

Yep, that pretty much sums up the most craptastic night of Jenna Baker’s life. She drowns after jumping off a cliff, meets a hotty named Chance in the pearlescent in-between and is brought back to life by her soon-to-be boyfriend Robert.

Just when things start to move forward with Robert, the guy she'd been crushing on for a year now, in walks the man of her dreams – literally. Chance suddenly appears in her dream every time she closes her eyes. So it's Robert by day and Chance by night. One in the real world and one in the dream world. What could possibly go wrong?

Absolutely nothing – until she comes face to face with the guy she met in the in-between, and realizes her romantic rendezvous with Chance may be more than just her imagination.

My Review of Falling In Between

I absolutely loved this book! I want to thank Devon for allowing me to be a part of her blog tour and allowing me to read this GREAT book. I read it on New Year's Eve. What a way to bring in the new year with a bang! Devon has crafted a world where I could not get enough.

Jenna is a ward of the state but she was awarded a scholarship to go to the local private Boarding school because of her grades. While there at school Jenna becomes best friends with Sophie her roommate. They do everything together and share everything like sisters. Then Jenna tells Sophie how she has a crush on Robert. It is their senior year and she wants to talk to him and get to know him before they leave for college. So Sophie and Jenna decide they are going to jump off a cliff for fun before school starts in the hopes that they get to see Robert and Jhett.

Once Jenna jumps she is filled with excitement because she finally jumped but when she plunges in the water she realizes something is very wrong because she is underwater for a long time. While she is under the water she hears this voice and sees this guy standing there looking at her. She walks towards him and they start talking. Then everything goes fuzzy and they start to cling to each other but Jenna wakes up and she realizes she is in the hospital. She is not sure how she got there and why she is there. She sees Robert by her bedside and realizes something happened.

As things start to unfold for Jenna she starts having these crazy dreams about this guy but she is not sure if they are real or fake. As time goes by things happen and Jenna starts to question her sanity thinking she really did lose something when she jumped off that cliff. Jenna will have to make decisions and choices that scare her. She will have to face someone she loves but can't be with and the most important thing is Jenna will have to chose to stay in dream land of wake up and be in reality. Whatever she chooses will hurt her but she must decide what is best for her.

Come along for an adventure of a lifetime. Read a story that will have you laughing, crying and cheering for the two swoon worthy guys but in the end Jenna will have to choose what to do!

This is a favorite scene in the book I just love love love......This is Jenna talking

But I did know one thing. Maybe it was cause I knew I was dreaming all those nights, but for the first time in my life, I opened myself up to someone and allowed complete vulnerability. We were caged within my dreams, but for the first time ever, I learned to love. So real or imaginary, Chance was and always will be, one of my first true loves.

This is what I picture Chance to look like.......

Here's an excerpt from the book:

Chapter One

My wet skin shivered as I cowered atop the cliff, even though the wind was as still as my breath. What was worse, I couldn’t stop my head from bobbing side to side as Sophie hummed that stupid Jeopardy tune.

I felt silly being in lace lingerie instead of a bikini, but we weren’t planning on swimming when we trekked through the woods tonight. We were gonnaaccidentally run into Robert and Jhett at the river spot they always hung out at, but the closer we got the more I freaked out about getting Robert alone.

Oh why did I let Sophie talk me into coming to the hidden pond first? She probably thought the detour would give me time to calm my nerves. But stupid me, I let her dare me into jumping off the freakin’ cliff as soon as we stripped. And as much as I wanted to talk to Robert, I secretly hoped she’d let me chicken out once I looked like a drowned rat.

The humming stopped, and the sweet sound of Sophie’s voice was smooth as it taunted me through song now. “Oh, Ja-hen-na!”

Crap, crap, crap…

I forced myself to peek over the rocky edge and look down – way down. There she floated effortlessly in the midnight blue pond, weak ripples flowing away from her pale silhouette, playfully squirting water towards me with the squeeze of her fist. Sophie’s aim was dead on. Had I not been thirty feet above the surface of the water, she’d nail me easily. I’d welcome it gladly if it would temporarily blind me, cause me to stumble forward and complete the dare I had yet to fulfill.

I had never been afraid of heights before. Of course, I had never tried to throw myself from one before either. And the lack of moonlight in combination with the creepy, placid water was freakin’ me out right now. Also, I’m pretty sure that squishy algae thing skimming the surface was The Blob and it was gonna jump out and devour me once I did my face-splat.

I moaned as I diverted my eyes to the milky white stars above. This was the third time I’d braved the path up the cliffs tonight. And it seemed inevitable that this would be the third time I did the walk of shame back down the way I came.

“Jenna Baker! If you don’t jump this instant I’m gonna grab your clothes and set them on fire! You know I will!”

Ha! Maybe I should remind her that the clothes came from her closet. Er, scratch that. Then she’ll have zero remorse for lighting them up.

Sophie’s been a crazy friend and roommate, to say the least. I’m sure it was a little odd for her to room with someone like me. Like all the other rich kids at Pennington Academy outside Rutland, Vermont, she had everything at her disposal and an unlimited credit card to pick up what she lacked. And parents that actually called and emailed her every week to check up on her.

Me? I barely had a penny to my name and absentee parents. Literally nonexistent. I was dropped off at a firehouse when I was only a few days old. All the babies born in the county were accounted for, so it was assumed my mother (and possibly my father) drove through Rutland to obliterate their parental rights. The only reason I could attend this swanky establishment was cause the academy sponsored a new student each year and provided them with a full scholarship. I didn’t care how many hoops of fire they made me jump through to get here, it was worth it to get out of those disgusting group homes. I even added a summer class every year just to avoid having to spend summer vacation in one.

Fall session of our senior year began not even a week ago and already Sophie had convinced me to try something stupid. I came to my senses twice already and walked back down the cliffs, only to have her put on the charm and convince me once again that this would be good for me.

Oddly enough, I actually did wanna jump, so it wasn’t all Sophie’s fault that I was up here again. And at the moment I was more scared to talk to Robert than I was to jump off the cliff. So maybe I could end the night with at least one fear tackled...

I sucked in a deep breath and edged my toes forward until they curled over the rock. My heart pulsed so hard I thought it would break through my ribs and burst through my body like that slimy alien did to that man in that movie. (Did’ja see that one? Grody, right? – So what if I’m stalling? What are you, the cliff-jumping moderator?)

Okay, maybe one more deep breath. God, just jump Jenna! I winced my eyes tight and flung myself into the void before I could think anymore about it. The feeling was exhilarating, prickly goose bumps and all, and I managed to brave a peek through the haze of my vibrating eyelashes. My heart gave one sharp pound, then froze when gravity took me. The wind whished and lifted me slightly as I fell closer to the glistening liquid below. The cliff and trees blurred, leaving nothing more than vertical streaks of muted tans, greens and blacks that resembled streaks of camouflage.

Sophie’s cheer filled the air. I could sense the ‘finally’ in the long, drawn-out hoot.

Surprisingly, I managed to point my toes and pass through the surface of the water cleanly. So smoothly that the slightest lift of my feet curved my body and sent me farther into the dark abyss like a missile. Water whooshed as it streaked alongside my body, eagerly parting the way for my descent.

I did it! I finally did it! Elation filled my body and soul for that one split second.

And then it happened.

My feet scraped the bottom of the pond and fire burned on my skin. Debris and dirt swirled about as I skidded across the floor bed, destroying what little clarity the moon’s glow offered underneath the silky surface. Weeds tangled around my legs and snagged my arms. I tried desperately to slow the impact by digging in with the palms of my hands, but all I did was give myself more rock burn.

My legs were crumpled and forced upward as an immovable blockade refused to budge. A sharp pain dug into my back as I bobbed up and down across the boulder. The jolt knocked the wind out of me and air escaped from my lungs. A cool gush of foul tasting water filled my mouth and trickled down my throat, causing my chest to spasm.

My head snapped back as the last of my body shot past the boulder. I felt a surge of sharp pains shoot out from the back of my skull, then a soothing numbness. A heavy daze overcame my head and traveled down my arms and legs. The only thing that seemed to be reacting at all was my heart and it threw itself into hyperdrive. Thub-thump echoed through my stuffy head and pulsated down my limbs. I wanted to breathe, to move my legs and arms toward the surface, but nothing would obey the command. My chest blazed as my heart began to slow now. Thuuub-thummmp.

My body lay lifeless above the clay bottom, bobbing gently with the ripples caused by my wake. I shot so far from where I crashed that the water around me wasn’t as murky here. My still eyes were swallowed up by the turbid liquid, yet I could still hone in on that blurry sliver of moonlight trying to lead me to the surface. It struggled to overcome the shadows of the depth, to reach out and extend what help it could offer and show me the way to salvation. But it wasn’t enough. My body was heavy – unwilling to move to save my life.

I was surprised at how good the release felt. Never had I known that stress ate away at my body until it began to dissolve in this moment – little tickles that skidded along the surface of my skin. But with this soothing release came excruciating pain. The lack of oxygen caused my lungs to heave so hard a rush of water gushed down my throat. I tried to gag but my body was beyond that now, even though the water splashing in my lungs left me with the most unnatural, uncomfortable feeling ever.

The water around me darkened more, and it had nothing to do with the strength of the moonlight.

Black…

Today we have the Pack here visiting us. I am so happy the decided to stop by and answer a few questions. I have to say this some questions may contain spoilers in them. I am sorry for that in advance but once you read their story you will see why we asked what we did. So remember if you did not read the book some of the questions and answers will have spoilers in it.

Let's welcome The Caged Moon Pack to A diary Of A Book Addict. Thank you guys for stopping by to chat with us. Charlotte and Ty I am sorry to say that there are A LOT of girls ready to bang the door down to get to your men. *WINKS* hehehe you guys have such an interesting story so I hope you don't mind me asking a few PERSONAL questions. I promise not to personal but inquiring girls want to know about you two *SWOON WORTHY* guys.

Liam or would you like to be called Aiden *WINKS*.....

What went through your mind when you first saw Charlotte at the camp ground?
Umm, okay. I’ll be honest with you. I smelled her from the car, on the way into the park. I thought she was another wolf, so had to, you know…check her out. *smirks* ‘Course once I saw her, I couldn’t help smiling. She was adorable.

Was it hard for you to stay away from her?
Yea…you could say she kind of drove me nuts. She had this adorable way of acting all tough and embarrassed, it was too tempting NOT to have a little fun with that. Besides, there was just something about her, and her scent that was insane.

Why did you get so mad at her when she looked at the book in your study?
You had to ask that, huh? *shakes head* Okay, it was one thing her knowing what I was, but that information was private. No one knew about what my brother and I did. It was a very difficult thing for me to do what I did. I knew no one would understand, and I didn’t want to go there. I needed Aaron gone on many levels.

Where you ever going to introduce her to your brother?
In my mind, Aaron was dead. I wanted it to stay that way. It was easier.

What was it like growing up with Thomas?
Lonely. He pushed me a lot, had a lot of expectations, but was never happy with anything, especially with Aaron. Mostly we kept to ourselves. I don’t want to talk about it.

Aaron *Lord I am about to pass out from that blue eyed gaze*.....

Why did you stay away from Liam for so long?
‘Cause he thinks he’s God’s gift to werewolves and that he knows all. He believes everyone should just bow down to his wishes. I also wasn’t strong enough at first…WHICH has changed. But at the time, he and his egotistic ways kicked me from the Pack. Why would I want to go back? He’s my brother, yet he kicked me. He could go to hell for all I cared.

Did you know what Thomas did to Charlotte?
No. I realized there was something different about her when I met her at Liam’s house. I put two and two together, but I had no idea that the bastard was involved. That one threw me.

How did you know Ty was your mate? Did you sense it in her the first time you met?
I didn’t. I just thought she was cute. *shrugs* So…of course, I nicely decided to help her sort some things out in that album. She surprised me. She actually cared.

How do you feel about Charlotte?
Charlotte…yea, um…*shifts eyes* She’s cool…I guess. Okay, I still have some issues with her, but that’s for another time. *grins tightly*

Will you and Liam form a pack?
Sure. I’d love to have a new Beta. *grins*

Charlotte

What were your first thoughts of Liam when you saw him at the camp site?
Oh, God. That first meet was so embarrassing. He kept giving me these ‘looks’ which okay, definitely had hot written all over them, but something wasn’t right about him. He kept avoiding my questions and his eyes gave me the creeps. He also seemed to think everything was amusing, which was infuriating.

When did you realize something was different about you?
Honestly, since I was six, but I didn’t realize the extent of that ‘difference’ until I kissed Liam for the first time. I felt something buried inside. I knew it. I just didn’t want to admit it.

What did you feel on your first date with Liam when you guys were kissing?
How to explain that! I couldn’t even breathe.

How do you feel about Ty and Aaron?
I still can’t believe that they are together. I don’t like him and don’t trust him. I think he’s got her brainwashed.

Ty

Did you think Charlotte was crazy when she told you about Liam?
I love the girl, but I did think she was a little paranoid at first. I mean, come on, werewolves? But she did have some good solid facts that were rather strange, and if she believed something was wrong, of course I’d stand by her to figure it out.

Where you ever afraid of being friends with Charlotte?
I was never afraid of being friends with Charlotte. I was afraid of who she was keeping company with. She seemed so blindsided. I didn’t want her to get hurt without knowing the real facts.

Why did you wear a Wolfs bane necklace?
It was my mothers. My father gave it her as a gift before he died. She never felt comfortable wearing it so she gave it to me. It means a lot to me. I used to always hold it when I felt I needed that presence of my father with me. I didn’t realize it was wolfs bane until later.

How did you know you were Aaron's mate?
I didn’t. I knew he was one of them, which freaked me out, but I don’t know what it was about him. He started telling his story and part of me just broke. He had no one, and there he was sitting on my bed with those baby blues, so sincere, and lost. I had to help him.

Where do you see yourself with Aaron in a few years?
I don’t know. All I know, is I love him. I just hope everyone can come to understand that, and accept that. I can understand Charlotte’s hostility, but it hurts.

I loved everyone in the pack but I just have a few questions for Steve seeing his is the only pup in the pack.

How do you feel about Liam and Charlotte?
I think they’re awesome. Charlotte’s great and anything to help keep Liam on his toes, is definitely well worth the show. *chuckles* I’m going to get killed for that one.

Will you stay with the pack until you mate?
Eh. I’ll stay will Liam until I die. The Pack is my family. They’re a part of me. To leave them, would be like leaving myself.

How do you feel about being the pup in the pack?
You mean how do I feel about being dragged around, made to carry everything, and never taken seriously? Oh, it’s great! :P But like I’ve said before, I maybe the youngest, but at least I’m not the ugliest. *grins*

Do you trust Aaron?
*looks around to make sure no one’s listening* Not in the slightest. I get the brother thing and all, but I think this is a bad idea.

How do you really feel about Charlotte? Do you have feelings for her?
I like Charlotte a lot. I’m serious when I say she’s awesome. But nah. She’s like a sister to me.

Thanks guys for stopping by and answering all the crazy questions we had for you. I hope and pray *WINKS* that we get to see more of you and hear more stories about what's been happening to you guys.

Is there more coming soon?
There very well may be in the near future. The story doesn’t end here. *winks* Thank you for having us!!

Until Next Time: The Angel Chronicles, Book 1 by Amy Lignor Blog Tour Stop

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Cupid's Day and in celebrating today I welcome Amy Lignor to my blog. She has written a book called Until Next time and it is epic. Who doesn't love a story with Angels and swoon worthy men!

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.

The book's official site is:

I began to write at a young age when I truly believed that my sister was an evil queen and I was the slayer who would save the realm.:) Now that we are grown...I suppose she's okay, and I have moved on to adventure fiction which I absolutely love.

Being the daughter of a Research Librarian, books and reading were always a 'gift,' and there is nothing I like more. In fact, if the NYPL would let me live in their basement, that's where I would be. I am very proud of 13, being able to 'link' historical locales together in a puzzle that bestselling authors have called, "The DaVinci Code With Heart." The Tallent & Lowery series is the ultimate adventure and I truly hope you all enjoy the ride! I review for many; I am the Owner of The Write Companion; and Editor-in-Chief of Precious Gems Pubishing, which was opened for debut novelists who were being overlooked.

Amy Lignor began her career at Grey House Publishing in northwest Connecticut where she was the Editor-in-Chief of numerous educational and business directories.

Now she is a published author of several works of fiction. The Billy the Kid historical The Heart of a Legend; the thriller, Mind Made; and the adventure novel, Tallent & Lowery 13.

She is also the owner of The Write Companion, a company that offers help and support to writers through a full range of editorial services from proofreading and copyediting to ghostwriting and research. As the daughter of a research librarian, she is also an active book reviewer.

Currently, she lives with her daughter, mother and a rambunctious German Shepherd named Reuben, in the beautiful state of New Mexico.
