The Last Year Series By Trisha Leigh Blog Tour Stop

In 2015, a race of alien Others conquered Earth. They enslaved humanity not by force, but through an aggressive mind control that turned people into contented, unquestioning robots.
Except sixteen-year-old Althea isn’t content at all, and she doesn’t need the mysterious note inside her locket to tell her she’s Something Else. It also warns her to trust no one, so she hides the pieces that make her different, even though it means being alone.

Then she meets Lucas, everything changes.

Althea and Lucas are immune to the alien mind control, and together they search for the reason why. What they uncover is a stunning truth the Others never anticipated, one with the potential to free the brainwashed human race.

It’s not who they are that makes them special, but what.

And what they are is a threat. One the Others are determined to eliminate for good.

MY REVIEW

5 OF 5 WHISPERS IN AUTUMN

First I would like to Thank AToMR Tours for allowing me to read and review this book. I have to say that I have not read a lot of dystopian or sci-fi books but this one is at the top for me. I loved how it had everything from action, to romance to fighting to survive. The book cover does this book justice as well which is big for me because I really love when the book cover screams read me read me!

Imagine it the year 2015 and the world has been taken over by Aliens. Well that is reality for Althea and the world but Althea has a secret she will share with no one. The Aliens have taken over the humans minds and control them to do what they want the humans to do. Althea has a secret though and that secret is that she can not be controlled by the aliens. She pretends to be controlled like everyone else but she can see the truth and she is going to search for the answers as to why she is different.

Then she meets Lucas. At first she does not trust Lucas but soon she finds that Lucas id just like her and he can't be controlled by the Aliens either. Together they go on a search for the reason why they can't be controlled. What they find can kill them and free the human race from the Aliens but they will have to be careful as to how to go about doing this. One slip and they could be killed. The Others are always watching and they will do whatever it takes to rule over the human race. What will Althea and Lucas do? Will they be able to expose the Aliens? Will they be able to free their family and friends from the mind control?

Come along for the greatest dystopian slash sci-fi read of 2012!
Althea and Lucas barely escaped the Others’ clutches in the autumn, and were separated in the process. Alone and on the run from the cruel alien race determined to exterminate her, Althea struggles to adapt and survive in a world she never imagined.

When a boy named Pax appears out of nowhere, he quickly recognizes Althea for what she is – a human/Other hybrid just like him. Althea begs him to help her find Lucas, but Pax refuses, intent on following his own mysterious agenda.

The Others’ presence continues to devour the planet’s resources, and if history is an indication, they won’t leave until Earth is destroyed beyond repair. Althea and Pax sense the only way to save themselves – and maybe their home – is to understand the powers simmering inside them.

Together they push the limits of their capabilities in the quiet Wilds, but are soon confronted with a terrifying fact: no place is safe from the relentless pursuit of the Others.

Least of all their own minds.

MY REVIEW

5 OF 5 WINTER OMENS

Thank you to AToMr Tours for allowing me to read this ARC and be a part of this EPIC tour! I have to say that I am absolutely in LOVE with this series. It hooked me right from the start and I had to read this book to see what was going to happen to Althea and Lucas. I have to say that Winter Omens did not disappoint me at all!

Winter Omens picks up right where Whispers in Autumn left off. Althea and Lucas are on the run from The Others. The Others want to destroy them because they have powers that if unleashed can destroy them. So Lucas and Althea are on the run and get separated which leaves them alone. Althea wakes up and realizes that she must fight by herself until she can find Lucas. But where does she start to find Lucas she has no idea. Alone and scared she finds a dog she thinks is a wolf for a companion. As she is on the run she meets a boy named Pax.

Althea at first has issues trusting him but she soon finds out that Pax is just like her and Lucas. She asks him to help her find Lucas but Pax has one thing on his mind and that is to get to Portland to finish up some unfinished business he has there. As the two of them get to know each other and share their stories they become closer and closer. There are feelings of attraction there but they both have goals set out so they fight the attractions. It is difficult to do because every time they touch they want to kiss they feel the pull towards one another.

Then if it is not bad enough they are on the run The Others have found a way to track Althea. The Others get into Althea's mind when she is sleeping. She must learn how to use her powers to keep them out. Pax has powers as well that he is learning how to use. The two of them set out to look for the four seasons of elements. Pax is one of them so they only need to find the other three. If The Others have their way they will kill Pax and Althea before they find the other three seasons.

Lord have mercy to say this book had me on the edge of my seat would be an understatement! This series keeps getting better and better as the plot unfolds and the adventures get harder for Althea. In this book you learn so much about Althea that your heart goes out to her. I am so torn between Lucas and Pax because both are great guys and she has feelings for both so who will she chose in the end? We will have to wait and see!

BIO
Trisha is an author of Young Adult fiction from Kansas City, MO. She’s currently writing/revising/cursing her next novel.

Raised by a family of ex-farmers and/or almost rock stars from Southeastern Iowa, Trisha always loved to tell stories. After graduating from Texas Christian University with a degree in Film, she began to search for a way to release the voices in her head. Trisha wrote a thriller and a couple of ghost stories, getting her feet wet and learning with each discarded manuscript. When she attempted her first YA novel, which would become Whispers in Autumn, she was hooked. Trisha knew then her heart lay with telling stories about and for young adults, and for anyone who loves to read and recapture those fleeting “first” moments.

Her spare time is spent reviewing television and movies, spending time with a large, loud, loving family, reading any book that falls into her hands, and being dragged into the fresh air by her dogs Yoda and Jilly.

Like everyone, Trisha’s had some ups and downs, but life is good. She’s writing. She’s happy.
