Griffin's Fire (Griffin #2) by Darby Karchut Blog Tour Stop

For centuries, there have been rumors about a lowly caste of supernatural beings known as the Terrae Angeli. Armed with the power to control Earth, Fire, Wind and Water, these warriors and their apprentices clandestinely serve as guardians for humans in danger.

Forced to become mortal, ex-teen angel Griffin has been banished from the Terrae Angeli. Struggling to adjust, he enrolls in the heaven-and-hell known as high school. In spite of his friends’ support, Centennial High proves to be a battleground, complete with a malicious math teacher.

And to make matters worse, his Mentor, Basil, has been ordered to take on a new apprentice, the gifted and egotistical seventeen-year-old Sergei, whose covert attacks make Griffin’s home life as bleak as a Siberian winter.

Caught between school, Sergei, and a desperate secret, Griffin is certain of one thing: the only way to fight a Cold War is with Fire.

MY REVIEW

5 OF 5 GRIFFIN'S FIRE

In this sequel to Griffin's Rising we get to see so much. It starts off where the first book ended. Griffin is coming into his powers and his mentor Basil is helping him hone in on the things he needs and the things he doesn't need. Basil and Griffin are like father and son and work together well. Griffin has a long way to go though and he starts feeling the cracks in his armor when he is forced to become a mortal and go to high school. If matters could not be worse Griffin has to deal with his mentor getting a new student. This isn't just any old student either but the gifted and snobby and cocky Sergei. What is Griffin to do?

As Griffin's life starts to unravel he starts to have the nightmares again and he is not sure what to do about them. He is no longer a Terrae Angeli. High school stinks for him and worse he has a math teacher from hell who is hell bent on making Griffin's life hell. He and his girlfriend are not getting along and he has to deal with his new gift and a secret he has to keep. Lord what is this poor boy to do?

The one bright force in his life is that he still has Basil. Basil will never leave him nor forsake him and that is one thing Griffin is grateful for.Even after everything he has been through Griffin will not let that stop him from doing what is right and if it means getting down and dirty then so be it. I can't wait for book three. I need it like the dessert needs water. Griffin has suffered so much and being stripped of his angel status and almost losing Basil Griffin knows he will have to fight fire with fire.
