Cover Reveal Defy Firstborn One by Raine Thomas

Defy (Firstborn, #1)
Seventeen-year-old Tate is about to make her parents’ dreams come true. Unfortunately for her, their dreams foretell her death.

Eager to explore more of the Estilorian plane and prove her abilities, Tate goes against her parents’ wishes and leaves the area of protection surrounding her home. Her choice puts her on a deadly path…one that leaves her alone, severely injured and battling for her life.

Her possible savior arrives in the form of Zachariah, a male who has removed himself from Estilorian society for more than fifty years. Fighting an unexpected connection to Tate, he must decide whether saving her life is worth destroying his.

As Tate struggles to find a way home, she ends up drawn into a dark Mercesti plot involving multiple murders and a powerful ancient artifact. With the unpredictable Zachariah as her only source for aid, she’ll soon find out if her abilities are strong enough to help her defy her Fate.

I don't know about you but I am STOKED to read this book! Lord I love the cover and I am excited to see what happens to Tate. The release date for Defy is April 30, 2012 so be sure to stop on by because I am giving away two copies of Defy!

Forgiving Trinity by Liz Reinhardt Blog Tour Stop

Forgiving Trinity
At seventeen, Trinity McCabe has already made enough mistakes to fill a lifetime. Especially the one where she got high, drove a car, and almost killed a dog. And then let her friend Aidan take the blame.

She’s clean now and desperate to fix the messes she’s made, but first she’s going to have to get out of her pajamas.

As Trinity struggles to stop sleepwalking through life, she faces the painful, tingling sensation of waking up. It’s sometimes embarrassing (she really didn’t want to have lunch with Aidan’s mom), sometimes terrifying (group therapy is beyond intimidating), and sometimes, amazingly enough, pretty romantic (who’d have though Aidan would be such a great kisser?)

Trin is lucky, though—luckier than she deserves, she’s sure—and she doesn’t travel this road alone. Her family, her therapist, and her new friends are all pulling for her. And it turns out, some of them have made pretty big mistakes, too.

But before she can embrace her new life completely, Trinity has to be forgiven by the one person who is holding out the hardest: herself. It’s not easy changing everything, especially when you don’t think you deserve a second chance. Trinity might make an even bigger mess of things before she figures that out.

When the smoke clears on her latest disaster, will anyone still be standing there?

Interview with Trinity
Today I would like to welcome Trinity from Forgiving Trinity by Liz Reinhardt to A Diary of a Book Addict. Trinity thank you very much for taking time out of your busy schedule to stop by and answer some questions from your fans. You have a very big fan following and they wanted to know some more information about you and Shane and how things are going but first I must ask the hard questions first. Sorry in advance but curious minds want to know a few things.

What went through your mind the night of the accident?

No, it’s totally okay. It’s actually gotten easier the more I’ve talked about it. That night, I’m pretty ashamed to say, I was pretty out of it. There wasn’t much that was making sense going through my brain most of the time back then, but especially that night. I remember being so happy to see Aidan, and I remember being so upset and just needing to blow out of there. The rest is lots of fragments of things like glass, fur, blood, flashing lights. Unfortunately, I’ll probably never get some of my own memories of that night back.

Why do you think Aidan took the blame for you so freely?

That was a crazy thing for me. I wondered that a lot. Now that I know Aidan so well, I think it was partially because he loves to be the knight in shining armor. It was also probably because he feels really guilty about doing a lot of dumb things in his past that other people got in trouble for, but he never did. I’m just glad he wasn’t completely pissed at me, because I’m so happy to have him in my life.

Were you upset with Aidan for taking the blame?

You know, it took a while for me to even really process what he did. At first, I kept expecting the cops to come knocking on my door, because I just assumed he’d explain everything. I felt really guilty for a long time, and I just assumed he’d hate me. When I found out why he did what he did, it made me jealous because I felt like maybe I could have healed faster if he had given me a chance to take the punishment. Now I truly believe that every single thing happened for a reason exactly the way it needed to, and I’m at peace with it all.

Okay Trinity so I asked the hard questions so here are a few fun ones that have to do with you and Aidan.

After Aidan took the blame and things got a little rocky did you think Aidan would hate you?

Definitely. I was totally convinced. In fact, going to his house, I thought I’d have to pull over at least five times to throw up from being so nervous. But we had always kind of had this little crush on each other, and he had taken the blame for me, so I could not stay away. I had to see him, had to be near him!

How are you and Aidan doing now that everything has happened and you guys are healing from the ups and downs?

Really, really great. Sorry, I get slightly embarrassed over the mushy stuff, but Aidan is like this amazingly romantic guy without being at all sappy. Like, he seriously reminds me of a knight in shining armor. Just one of those guys who’s determined to be amazing to his girlfriend, but also so funny and sure of himself and so smart. He’s the most fun person to be around, always in a great mood. I just…I’m totally blushing! I can’t say enough how amazing he is.

What do you think is in store for you and Aidan?

Well, we’re going to be co-counselors at this camp together, so that should be fun, I hope. There’s been a lot of serious stuff in our past, so we’d like to just relax and have time doing normal summer things…movies, bowling, swimming, hiking. Maybe a few romantic dates here and there.

What would you say to someone going through issues in their life and decides to turn to drugs or alcohol to give them relief?

That’s a really good question. I would tell them that the temporary high never, ever lasts. I would tell them that it’s way easier than you’d think to get in deep and lose a lot of time. And I’d tell them that as much as life can hurt and suck and feel incredibly crazy, it’s so much better to experience it on your own, rather than under the influence of anything.

Trinity thank you for stopping by and answering our questions. I just have a few more random questions for you.

Thank you so much for having me!

Streamline By Jennifer Lane Happy Release Day!

Seems like Leo Scott has it all: looks, brains, and athletic talent. He’s captain of his high school swim team with a bright future in college and beyond. But Leo has secrets. His mother’s crippling car accident has devastated his family and left Leo to deal with his father’s abuse, battered and alone.

Leo’s girlfriend Audrey Rose is poised for her own share of success. As one of Florida’s top high school swimmers, Audrey dreams of college swimming stardom. But there’s an obstacle to her glorious rise to the top. Her number-one supporter--her father--is in prison for murder.

Part murder mystery, part tale of young love in a military family, this gripping story takes readers on a journey from Pensacola to Annapolis. Leo and Audrey must band together to rise above the adversity they encounter and find their true selves in the process. When everything’s on the line . . . streamline.

INTERVIEW WITH LEO SCOTT AND AUDREY ROSE

Today is a great day for A Diary Of A Book Addict! Today we have Leo and Audrey here from Streamline by Jennifer Lane. Guys I am so excited to finally meet you. I absolutely love your story. You guys are role models to others going through rough times. After reading your story and crying half way through I realized that living in a military family is very hard. Your fans have a few questions for you guys and I just want to say thank you for stopping by and sharing your story. It is never easy to share personal things that happen behind closed doors but by sharing your story you are helping others who are going through the same thing. You are encouraging them to seek help when it is needed and teaching others that the code of silence is not good for some things.

Well enough rambling on……. (I am totally blushing looking at Leo) *winks*

Leo

First of all, thank you for having us to your blog, ma’am. *hides blush* Audrey is the real hero in all of this—not me. Now that the word’s out about my family, I guess it’s okay to talk about it, especially if I can help others. But it still makes me uncomfortable. Dr. Ina would probably tell me to man up and face my fear, so here we go.

What was it like growing up with a strict father?

It was fine until my mother’s accident. My father was just trying to keep us in line, especially Jason. Jason—my older brother—he likes to push people’s buttons, and he got in trouble a lot more than me. But after my mother’s accident, she wasn’t really around, and my father changed. It was…tough. I couldn’t please him anymore, no matter how hard I tried.

Why did you start swimming, was it to get away from CS?

You’re referring to my father—Commander Scott. And no, I didn’t start swimming to get away from him. I started swimming because the first time I won a race, my father had this huge smile on his face when I got out of the pool. He practically suffocated me when he hugged me, and he told me how proud he was. It was the best feeling in the world.

What went through your mind when you and CS had the last altercation in your room?

All I could think about was Audrey. I was worried he might hurt her, and I tried to do all I could to stop him. *frowns* That didn’t turn out so great.

How do you feel about your father after everything happened?

*pauses for a long time* Can I pass on that question, ma’am? I don’t really know. I guess part of me hates him, and part of me…might still love him. *sneaks a glance at Audrey* But that sounds stupid.

Do you and Audrey plan on getting married?

Definitely. I’d marry her tomorrow, but her father said we’re too young. I guess he’s right. At least he hasn’t made her wear the chastity belt like he threatened!

*Audrey laughs*

How are Jason and your mother doing?

They’re good. It’s kind of amazing, actually. I wish I could be as strong as them.

This question is kind of personal and you really don’t have to answer it, but what advice would you give to someone going through what you and Jason did?

Dr. Ina told me each family is different, and all I know is my messed-up family. My best advice is not to give up on your parents, no matter how bad things get. Try to help them be better people if you can.

Audrey

What was it like growing up in a military house?

Normal! I don’t know any other way of growing up. Everyone assumes my Navy officer dad is the tough one, but my mom’s the one who wears the pants. My dad’s a big softie at heart.

Did you know your father was an alcoholic?

*looks down* I knew he’d been divorced before he married my mom, but I didn't know why. When that awful stuff came out in the court martial, I cried so hard. I couldn't stop crying. Leo helped me get through it.

*Leo reaches for her hand*

How did you feel when you found out Leo was being abused by his father?

Sooooo furious. And guilty too. I couldn’t believe that was happening this whole time and I didn’t do anything about it.

*Leo interrupts* It’s not your fault, Aud.

It’s not yours, either, Leo.

What was going through your mind when you saw Leo lying unconscious on his bedroom floor?

I was so scared I thought I’d get sick. *pauses* Can we talk about something else?

What are your and Leo’s plans for the future?

I decided I’m going to major in psychology at Florida State. I figure Leo’s my first case study.

*Leo’s mouth drops open* Hey! *Tickles her*

*Audrey shrieks*

*Leo grins* Dr. Ina told me psychologists are the craziest people around, so that IS a good major for you.

*Audrey shoves him*

How did you deal with your dad being in prison? What advice do you have for people going through something like that?

At first I was mad at the world. I didn’t want to visit him in there because it made me sad, and I couldn’t sleep or eat very well. *Takes a deep breath* But I think the best thing coming from all the bad stuff is learning to lean on Leo. It’s hard to talk about things you’re ashamed about, but when the truth came out, we grew a lot closer. And what Leo said about trusting your parents—not giving up on your parents—is really smart. I can’t believe I’m admitting that. *grins*

*Leo kisses Audrey on the cheek*

Leo, Audrey thank you so much for coming to A Diary Of A book Addict and sharing your stories. Your story and strength and courage you have shown WILL help someone going through the same thing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming and sharing your story. Happy Swimming and happy living!

Pure by Jennifer L. Armentrout Blog Stop

Pure (Covenant, #2)
There is need. And then there is Fate...

Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her.

When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

My Review
Pure was PURELY AMAZING! I do not know where to begin with this review so I am going to trcy and reign it in so I do not spoil it for people who have not read it. I absolutely love this series and how it is turning out.

Pure starts where Half Blood ended. Alex is still trying to come to grips with the death of her mother and the fact that she is the Appollyon. She also has to deal with her feelings towards Aiden who is a pure blood who is not allowed to mix with someone who is mixed. Take all this and the start of a new school year and man oh man is Alex on edge.

The one good thing in Alex's corner is Seth. He is the other Appollyon making it hard on Alex because she has to work twice as hard as anyone else. She has to train with Seth so he can catch her up on fighting skills in order to protect herself and others from the daimons. She is still training with Aiden but both he and Seth agree she needs more training because she is behind in her fighting skills.

Pure is EPIC ...EPIC... man Alex is such a strong girl in this book because she and Aiden go through a lot and she will sacrafice a lot as well as Aiden and the two of them will go down a bumpy road but in the end it is for the best. Seth is always there to support her and he is there to be her friend or anything else she needs. He has made it no secret that he cares for her and wants to be with ehr but her heart belongs to someone else.

Alex will lose someone very close to her and that will cause her pain. She has to fight to stay out of trouble which is easier said than done. As we all know from the last book she has some hard core enimies but she will kick butt and prevail because she is a strong woman. Lea and Jackson of course mess with her but Jackson gets his just tehehehe you will have to read the book to see what I am saying. So I don't want to ramble on so I am going to end this review with a song that reminds me of Alex and Aiden and Alex and Seth. Happy Reading everyone!

Alex and Aiden's song Trying not to love you by Nickleback http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eb4ifMRBI...

Alex and Seth's song Thing for you by Hinder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwARkjjKH...

Favorite Quotes:
“Ever since I’ve met you, I’ve wanted to break every rule.” Aiden turned away, the muscles in his neck tensing. He sighed. “You’ll become the center of someone’s world one day. And he’ll be the luckiest son of a bitch on this earth.”

“Do you know why a heart lays claim? Survival. That heart lays its claim to ensure survival of its kind.”

“I guess there were two types of people in the world, those who sat around a fire, staring into the flames, and those who started the fire.

Seth and I started the fire, and then we danced around it.”

“No one is like you, Alex."

I grinned. "I'll take that as a compliment."

"It is." He nudged me again, and my grin gew into another ludicrous smile- the kind Caleb gave Olivia when they weren't tearing each other's heads off. "You're incredibly intelligent, Alex. Funny and..."
"Pretty?"
"No, not pretty."
"Cute?"
"No."
I frowned. "Well, then."
Aiden's laugh sent shivers through me. "I was going to say 'stunning.' You're stunningly beautiful.”

So here is the great part I am giving away two copies of Pure. All you have to do is comment on whether or not your Team Aiden or Team Seth and leave your e-mail address so I can contact the winner. This contest is only for The U.S

When Destiny Strikes (Destiny Saga, #2) by Heather M. White Review

When Destiny Strikes by Heather M. White
Now that Karlie has received her full powers, things are going to be great... right?

Karlie's number one priority is to kill Serenity - after all she deserves it for trying to kill Alex. Though it isn't as easy as it sounds. Serenity teams up with demons to create an army to destroy Karlie.

On top of that, there are a ton of zombies, everywhere... And a new angel in town, who seems more like a demon... And of course, a shape shifter dragon! It's all weird, even for Karlie.

With friends turning against friends, it seems as though her life got a whole lot more complicated.

My Review

OMG Heather has done it again. Second books are always critiqued harshly but I will say this Heather has rocked my world and then some! Lord she had me so hooked that the ending had me like What the..... you know what I was thinking. This story picks up right where the first one left off. You get to see Karlie and Shane and the gang and a few new characters that I loved.

Karlie and Shane are trying to have a normal high school day where they do not have to fight evil monsters or demons but with Karlie being the chosen one everything wants a piece of her to destroy her and take over the world. Karlie is having none of that and she will fight to the end to make sure her friends and family and the world are safe.

Karlie will also go through a lot of trials and tribulations this time around. She will have to learn who to trust and just how much to trust. Someone close to her will come back into life causing her to reevaluate everything she was told about this person. She will also lose a few friends and she will also be betrayed by someone she loves.

Heather did an excellent job introducing new characters into the story and she even added some new supernatural creatures. Can you say H-E-L-L-O Hugh and Hubert! tehehehe you will have to read the book to see what I am talking about.

While I was reading this book I thought about a song to go along with the theme and I think Storm by Lifehouse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KiD-QXyu...

Thank you Heather foe allowing me to read an ARC copy! You know my heart belongs to Alex. He can come down and sweep me up in his wings any day!

Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard Review

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
It all begins with a stupid question:

Are you a Global Vagabond?

No, but 18-year-old Bria Sandoval wants to be. In a quest for independence, her neglected art, and no-strings-attached hookups, she signs up for a guided tour of Central America—the wrong one. Middle-aged tourists with fanny packs are hardly the key to self-rediscovery. When Bria meets Rowan, devoted backpacker and dive instructor, and his outspokenly humanitarian sister Starling, she seizes the chance to ditch her group and join them off the beaten path.

Bria's a good girl trying to go bad. Rowan's a bad boy trying to stay good. As they travel across a panorama of Mayan villages, remote Belizean islands, and hostels plagued with jungle beasties, they discover what they've got in common: both seek to leave behind the old versions of themselves. And the secret to escaping the past, Rowan’s found, is to keep moving forward.

But Bria comes to realize she can't run forever, no matter what Rowan says. If she ever wants the courage to fall for someone worthwhile, she has to start looking back.

Kirsten Hubbard lends her artistry to this ultimate backpacker novel, weaving her drawings into the text. Her career as a travel writer and her experiences as a real-life vagabond backpacking Central America are deeply seeded in this inspiring story.

My Review

First I have to say that this is the first book I have ever read by Kristen and it will not be the last! I absolutely loved her writing and the story caught me right from page one and I could not put it down. I also loved how she nailed it with the descriptions of backpackers. I have a few friends who do it and love it. They go all over the place and help out and live off of basic necessities we take for granted.

Wanderlove drew me in for so many reasons. One Bria is recovering from a broken heart. She has just graduated high school and is deciding on where to go to college when she decides she will take a trip. She is supposed to be with a traveling group but when she lands in Central America and meets a boy Rowan and his sister Starling she decides she will take the road less traveled.

As Bria and Starling get close Starling tells her she is going to her other job volunteering and that Bria should stay on the journey across Central America with Rowan and look after him. Bria thinks it's a bad idea because she can't even take care of herself but she agrees because she wants to see the prettier sides of Central America and she wants to get to know Rowan because he is very secretive and quiet.

As Bria and Rowan travel they learn to confide in one another and share their secrets with one another. Just as they are getting close something happens and Rowan runs and Bria is determined to find him with the help of Starling. As Bria sets out on her own to find Rowan she discovers things about herself that will bring her closer to healing from the pain of her breakup and the feelings she has for her family and most important how she feels for Rowan.

I loved this story because it tugged on so many of my emotions. Bria had to deal with her broken heart but she also had to deal with the fact that she was mentally being abused by her ex-boyfriend. Plus she had family issues that she needed to come to terms with. When she did she was able to open her heart and love. This is a must read and I heard Kristen has some other great books out there so I will be reading them soon.

The song that made me think about Bria and Rowan is Breakeven by The Scripthttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MzCLLHscM...

Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read this ARC copy of Wanderlove!

Cover Reveal Perfection by J.L. Spelbring

The personification of Aryan purity, Ellyssa's spent her whole life under her creator's strict training and guidance; her purpose is to eradicate inferior beings. She was genetically engineered to be the perfect soldier: strong, intelligent, unemotional, and telepathic.

Only Ellyssa isn't perfect.

Ellyssa feels emotions--a fact she's spent her life concealing. Until she encounters the epitome of inferiority: a dark-haired boy raised among renegades hiding since the Nazis won the war a century ago. He speaks to her telepathically, pushing thoughts into her mind, despite the impossibility of such a substandard person having psychic abilities.

But he does.

His unspoken words and visions of a place she's never visited make Ellyssa question her creator. Confused and afraid her secret will be discovered, Ellyssa runs away, embarking on a journey where she discovers there is more to her than perfection.

Coming Soon Whisper By Heather Hildenbrand

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer, a time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunk class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet...

OMG I don't know about you but I am STOKED about this book. I love Heather's writing and I love The Cherokee Indians. They have such rich history and beautiful art work.

Interview with Madison Daniel author of Ember

Love never dies...but it can kill.
Ember is the story of Max Valentine, a teenager with secret abilities and many inner demons. His life revolves around music and his love for it. When his father dies he seeks answers with his last living relative, his fathers brother Frank. Frank lives on the island of Maui and eagerly takes Max in as his own. Max soon learns that healing his past will be more difficult than he could have ever believed. Two major complications will tempt and torment him as he tries to make sense of his abilities.

The first temptation comes in the form of a mysterious island girl. Asia Lyn Michaels is rich, spoiled, angry and beautiful. Her path crosses with Max on the beach one afternoon, forever changing both of their lives. Max saves her life and she discovers his secret. From that moment on they are connected, no matter how much they fight it.

The second temptation will test Max’s very soul. Samantha Ann Summers is sweet, artistic, smart and confident. She will help Max find his smile again and maybe even heal his past mistakes. She is possibly his soul mate and Max will fight that with every fiber of his being.

Max’s temper and indecision with the girls will send in motion events that will cost him dearly. He will test the limits of his powers and the new relationship with his protective uncle. He will gain a powerful love and lose another.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Madison and I learned so much about the Ember Series and a little extra something about Madison. Read on to enjoy the interview.

Today I would like to thank Madison Daniel the Author of Ember for stopping by A Diary Of A Book Addict. I first have to say Madison you have a HUGE following! Man when I said I was interviewing you the girls were bombarding me with questions to ask you. So I had to narrow them down to a few questions so I hope I don’t upset anyone *winks*.

I know the book is based in Hawaii but our readers want to know why you picked Hawaii for the story. Is there any significance of having the story in Hawaii? I have never been there but after reading Ember and researching what Hawaii looks like I am definitely taking a vacation there soon.

MD: Hawaii and Maui are very elemental. Completely fits all the nuances of the story. The islands also bring an instant recognition of paradise and a far away place. Heaven on Earth.

How does Max feel about his ability? Does he feel like it is a gift or a curse?

MD: He is definitely haunted by it. It has scarred him deeply even though he embraces his fire-starting abilities in the way a reluctant hero might do in a comic book.

Does Max’s uncle have a special ability?

MD: Just common sense and a great big heart. He is the voice of reason in the Ember series.

Why does Asia have such a calming effect on Max?

MD: She is his “fires” opposite. Their first meeting is dramatic and connects them in a way only Max and Asia can understand.

Does Sam think of Max as her soul mate?

MD: Not at first but she definitely figures that out before he does. Sam will challenge Max’s very soul.

If you could name one song that describes how Max is feeling, which song would it be?

MD: That’s a hard one. Hmmm...maybe “Not Strong Enough” by Apocalyptica.

Will Max ever master his anger?

MD: I hope so! But not for a couple more books. There many twists and trials ahead for Max and his fires.

Has Max dealt with the death of his close relative?

MD: When you read Ember you will be able to answer that yourself. It’s one of the main undercurrents of the series.

Music played a huge role in your book. Can you tell us if you were a musician or if you play and instruments? Also how has music influenced your life?

MD: I spent all my teen years and half of the adult years in a band. I play guitar, bass and keyboards. I spent most of those magical years up front with a microphone in my hand as the lead vocalist. It’s safe to say that music has shaped my life in every possible way. I’ve learned from it, healed with it and grown because of it. Music is life.

Rapid fire questions
1. Soda or Juice? OJ.
2. What is your favorite music to listen to when writing? All.
3. Fruits or Veggies? Fruits.
4. What is your favorite instrument? Voice.
5. Where do you like to write? In my dreams.
6. How many books are going to be in the series? Six.
7. When is the second book coming out? Later this year.

Madison thank you so much for stopping by and sharing all this fun info with me and the readers we really appreciate it. Max is a swoon worthy guy and with that said one of your fans/stalker wants to know if Max is taken or can she have him? *winks* We all want a piece of Max ;)

MD: Max burns for all his fans! Asia and Samantha may have something to say about it though!

Thank you for having me! It was awesome. I hope we can do this again. ~ M.

Pieces of Us by Margie Gelbwasser Interview and Book Review

Two families. Four teens.

A summer full of secrets.

Every summer, hidden away in a lakeside community in upstate New York, four teens leave behind their old identities…and escape from their everyday lives.

Yet back in Philadelphia during the school year, Alex cannot suppress his anger at his father (who killed himself), his mother (whom he blames for it), and the girls who give it up too easily. His younger brother, Kyle, is angry too—at his abusive brother, and at their mother who doesn’t seem to care. Meanwhile, in suburban New Jersey, Katie plays the role of Miss Perfect while trying to forget the nightmare that changed her life. But Julie, her younger sister, sees Katie only as everything she’s not. And their mother will never let Julie forget it.

Up at the lake, they can be anything, anyone. Free. But then Katie’s secret gets out, forcing each of them to face reality—before it tears them to pieces.

My Review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/238636696

I always wanted to be a writer, and when I was seven I got my shot. My second grade teacher held a writing contest. I wrote this ten page story about a girl who was kidnapped, taken to an island, and tied to a coconut tree. She found a way to use the coconuts as weapons and escaped, against all odds! I didn’t win. The girl who won wrote about a talking strawberry, and her story was only 3 pages long. Talk about being robbed!

I recovered, continued to write, edited my high school and college literary magazines, wrote an adult multi-generational novel about a Russian-Jewish family, scrapped the novel but realized the part about the teens really came alive. So I started writing a YA book about a Russian-Jewish girl with an alcoholic mom that is now called INCONVENIENT. I then found an agent, and in a little less than two years landed a two-book deal with Flux. During all this, I got married and had an amazing son who I consider my good luck charm.

These days, I’m home with my son and between our music, library, Mommy and Me classes, and truck and lawn mower spottings, I’m working on my second novel. Like with the first book, there’s some Russian stuff and some Jersey stuff (Jersey makes for great settings—take that all of you who think Jersey is a smelly state and nothing more) but it’s really dark, edgy, and the culture is more background/setting than center stage.

I would like to introduce Margie Gelbwasser to A Diary Of A Book Addict. Thank you Margie for stopping by and sharing some wonderful insight into your new book Pieces Of Us that was just released on March 08, 2012 I have to say that after reading your book I was in tears and I could not write the review right away. I had to sit and rethink some things I read and I went back and re-read some things to. I absolutely loved the characters and I applaud you for being so open and honest with the youth of today. Thank you for sharing two families struggles with abuse and being bullied and self-esteem issues.

What made you decide to write Pieces Of Us?
Originally, I just heard Katie's voice. I knew she went away for the summers to escape her current life. I thought about what she was escaping, what happened to her, and slowly the story began to take shape. Once I saw the key elements, I was reminded of some difficult times I had in high school and college where some people spread rumors about me. I know today teens have it much worse, and I wanted to show that—how technology escalates bullying these days and how it affects everyone.
Did any of the characters remind you of anyone you were close to?
Not of people I was close to, but I knew guys like Alex as a teen. I dated guys like Alex—those who put a girl's virginity on a pedestal, those who put women in little boxes. The Alex and Kyle storyline was loosely based on something I witnessed.

Why did Ethan and Chris do that stuff to Katie? Was it similar to hazing?
I believe both of them wanted to feel powerful and in control. Here are two, popular jocks who seem to have everything, who the school and teachers worship. They wanted to assert their power, show who was on top. When dealing with abuse—sexual or otherwise—I believe it all comes down to power and feeling like you're superior to the victim.

Can you tell us a little background about the parents?
I am really curious to find out about Katie and Julie’s mother with her whole casualness about her and Katie’s relationship and then her relationship in the end with Julie. I read some reviews where people discussed the implausibility of a mother like Katie's and Julie's. She is awful, yes. In the minority? Yes. But implausible? No. I was very lucky to have caring parents. I had friends who were not so lucky. I had known a few girls in high school who had mothers like Katie's. The kind of mother who constantly told her daughter she needed to lose weight, who put her daughter down all the time, who called her ugly, who called her daughter a slut for kissing someone, who hit her kids. So, there are parents like that. This would have been a very different story with supportive parents. Most of the incidents in this book would not have happened. Sadly, there are families like this. I don't know all the reasons Julie and Katie's mom turned out the way she did, but somewhere in her life she decided that being beautiful was the key to happiness, that a “real” man was not a pushover in the least and, in fact, the other extreme. I don't believe she got that from her own parents as Julie and Katie's grandparents are everything the mother is not, but somewhere along the way Katie and Julie's mom got lost and turned into a selfish, unkind person. As for Kyle and Alex's mother, I think a part of her thought that she did what she did to put food on the table and help her kids. Another part of her knows she let them down and is ashamed. And yet another part is not aware at all of the repercussions of her actions until it's too late.

What was wrong with Julie in the end to make her change the way she was?
Julie always wanted approval from her mother and let this cloud everything. She saw the world in black and white, blamed Katie for things that were her fault and weren't. She chooses to block out the truth if it can elevate her in her mother's eyes.

What were Alex’s true feelings in the end for Katie?
I think he loved her and this scared him. I feel she changed him. But by change I don't mean he's a better person. I don't know what he is. He has so much hate and rage, that the good that Katie put into his soul, is marred by the bad. If Alex was the type of guy who was open to therapy, it would help him. I don't think he's that kind of guy and therefore not sure what will happen to him. But I DO believe that he won't treat people like he did Katie and the other girls ever again. I don't think he'll be into monogamy or anything, but whether he knows why or not, he will act differently.

What were Kyle’s true feelings in the end for Katie?
I think he cares about her very much. At the very least, the two will be friends and each other's savior. The two of them truly understand what the other went through. If they decide to pursue a romantic relationship it won't be for a long time. I think they both need to heal a lot first.

7 rapid fire questions
1. Soda or Juice? Diet soda
2. Chocolate or peanut butter? Chocolate dipped in peanut butter. Yum!
3. Favorite color? Red. Wearing it now, actually. :-)
4. Favorite getaway? A cruise. I LOVE them!
5. Favorite Author? So many! Amy Tan, Maeve Binchy, Stephen King
6. Gum or Tic Tacs? Definitely gum. Tic Tac disappear too quickly.
7. Favorite place to write? Panera or Starbucks

Margie, thank you for stopping by and sharing a little extra with us on Pieces of Us. One more question for you. In the end of the book you share places where kids can get help. What would you say to someone who is afraid of getting help? Please talk to someone. If you are too scared to discuss what's happening in person, there are online and phone hotlines and counselors available. Staying silent is a lot worse. A bully and abuser will tell you things will get worse if you speak up, but they will get worse with silence as well. Keeping a victim silent is a bully's leverage. They bank on it. Breaking the silence is the first step to getting help.

Thanks again from A Diary Of A Book Addict

Mark of the Seer By Jenna Kay Interview and Book Review

CLARITY MILLER always thought of her life as semi-normal. She had friends that would do anything for her, boyfriend that was madly in love with her, and a roof over her head that she shared with her aunt.

Everything seemed to be falling into place. That is, until the day she met Sam.

When Sam informs her that he’s her guardian angel and that she has been given the gifts of a Seer, her life starts spiraling out of control. She wants nothing to do with the spiritual realm.

All she wants is to have a normal life as a teenager, but when a tragedy occurs that causes the whole town of Garlandton to fall to its knees she realizes that she has a very important decision to make.

Should she embrace the life of a Seer?

Only time will tell . . .

My Review http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/187061362

Jenna Kay
Today I would like to welcome Jenna Kay to A Diary Of A Book Addict. She is the author of Mark of the Seer. This is the first book to be released in her Seer Novel Society series. Jenna, thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your novel with us. I have to say I am a HUGE FAN of yours *Blushes* since I read Clarity in 2011, which is now called Mark of the Seer.

Can you share with us a little of the background for this series? How did you come up with the idea of writing this story?
Yes. The Seer Society Series is a speculative take on the “what ifs” in the supernatural realm. “What if” there were Biblical Seers that could see angels and demons in the spiritual realm? “What if” they could send a demon back to hell by just laying a hand on them. “What if” they could fight along side their guardian angels against the forces of evil. When I started this series my ultimate goal was to get people to open their minds and think.

What made you decide to write about Angels and Demons? This is such a HOT topic today with a lot of writers writing about the Demon parts. Instead you chose to write about the Angel side and how Clarity must chose between good and evil.

Angels, demons, and the spiritual world has always fascinated me. I've read many angel/demon books where the supernatural “falls” for their human. I wanted to make the Seer Society like nothing else out there. Where the series is not preachy or labeled Christian fiction, it does speak about God and His love for us. The guardian angels in this series love the humans they watch over unconditionally, no matter what. I just put a different otherworldly twist in the mix with my angels and demons.
Can you give us a little background on Sam and how he feels about being Clarity’s Angel? I must say Sam is a very patient Angel with Clarity *Winks*

Sam is a very compassionate and loyal angel, and when it comes to Clarity he takes his loyalty even farther. The angels in this series are loyal to God and His greatest creations, humans. Yes, Clarity is a handful, and yes Sam is very patient with her. That's his job—no matter what Clarity says, does, or decides, he's got to continue to watch out for her.

Is there a significance to the fragrance of the Angels described in the book? Clarity always knows when Sam is there because she can smell the fragrance of Lavender.

Yes, I thought it would be a cool twist in the story to have all the angels have their own unique smells. Sam smells like Lavender, Sarah like Honeysuckle, Mary Beth like citrus, and when you have a roomful of angels get ready for an overwhelming perfume department smell. Not only do they have their own unique scents but they also emanate a soothing calmness.

So with the angels smelling sweet and fresh, the demons smell the exact opposite. I like to use the expression “road kill mixed with sewage” when I talk about how demons smell. I have many different expressions and concoctions when it comes to describing a demons smell...it's quite fun!

What was going through Clarity’s mind when she first found out she was a seer? Did she doubt Sam?

First of all Clarity knows something's up the first time she sees Sam standing in the door of her classroom. Deep down she knew that Sam was not of this world, but trying to live in a normal reality Clarity tries to shrug it off, even after she awakes from a dream to find marks on the palms of her hands. So when she finds out she's a Seer and that Sam is her guardian angel her whole world and the way she sees it changes. Yes, she has many doubts, but in the end all the doubts are erased as the spiritual world is practically thrown in her face.

Sam is quiet about a lot of things can you tell us why he can share some things and others he cannot? I do have to say I love a quiet and secretive man but boy oh boy does he take the market on that *Winks and Chuckles*

Hehehe! Well, the thing with Sam is...he would love to be able to tell Clarity everything, but that would take away from her journey and path. We humans have the freewill to choose the path, choose the journey, and make the decision for our lives. Even though it would be nice to have someone give us the heads-up on the road ahead, like is it a path to success? Or a path to utter destruction? She has to go through this and make the decisions, though she is not and never alone.
Can you tell us 7 random things about Sam and Clarity?
Haha, Ok, here goes!
SAM: Tall, dark, handsome, mysterious, loyal, protective, and simply enthralling.
CLARITY: Sassy, smart, beautiful, inquisitive, trusting, eager, and fun.

Know this is going to be rapid fire for you. Just a quick glimpse into the mind of a BRILLIANT author!
1. Soda or Juice? Soda
2. Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate? Milk Chocolate
3. Fruit or Veggies? Fruit
4. Favorite Music? Rock/Metal
5. Do you have a favorite Church Scene? Um...Jesus
6. Do you have a special place to go when you write? I can write anywhere
7. How many books are going to be in the series and when can we expect the second book to be released? There will be five in the series and the second book is coming around Christmas (Fingers Crossed!).

Jenna thanks for stopping by and sharing all the love with us. I do hope you will stop by again when your second book is released and congrats on getting it published by Crushing Heart and Black Butterfly.

Thanks for having me and supporting me through this awesome journey. Love and blessings to all!!
Jenna

The Elemental Mysteries Blog Tour

Beatrice De Novo thought she had left the supernatural world behind…for the most part. But when the past becomes the present, will she leave her quiet life in Los Angeles to follow a mystery she thought had abandoned her? Where has Giovanni Vecchio been, and why has he returned? Giovanni has his own questions, and he’s looking to her for answers.

The sequel to A Hidden Fire will reunite Beatrice and Giovanni to continue their search through the past while both wrestle with the future. When the world as you knew it has changed forever, is there any way you can turn back?

This Same Earth is the second book in the Elemental Mysteries series. It is a paranormal romance/mystery for adult readers.

My Review of This Same Earth http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/236246548

Here is an excerpt from This Same Earth, Happy Reading and join me on Sunday for a special posting of this series.......

“You are no longer a girl,” he murmured. “And I was never your professor.”

“You just had the arrogance of one. Still do.”

With lightning speed, he came to kneel between her knees. He could hear her sharp inhalation and the sudden rush of her pulse. Looking up, he met her dark eyes.

“You think I’m arrogant?”

“I know you are,” she said breathlessly.

“Then what would you have me do, tesoro?”

She blinked and he saw her gaze drop to his mouth. “Wh—what?”

“Should I forget five hundred years of experience killing my enemies and protecting those who belong to me so that your modern sensibilities are not harmed?”

She was still looking at his mouth, and he forced himself not to smirk.

“Would you have me confer with you before every move as if I was a mere boy looking for approval?”

“No, I mean—”

“You called all the shots in your relationship with that human, didn’t you?”

He knew he had made a mistake bringing up Mano as soon as she twisted her mouth into a sneer.

“Yeah, I did. And he knew just how to make me happy.”

He darted back to his side of the plane and draped his arm over the back of the couch. “Did he? Did he really?”

If you can't get enough of Gio and B's story like I can't follow along the tour for more excerpt's and giveaways.

Her world is about to change again with the birth of her new sibling, and she has to figure out how she will adjust to being the eldest of five kids. She, Jess, andJimmy are inseparable, and she is having a fantastic time although she can’t help but miss Brian as she tries to learn how to deal with his relationship with Layla. Bethany Lopez was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in Michigan and San Antonio, Texas. She went to High School at Dearborn High, in Dearborn, Michigan, which is where she has set her Young Adult novel. She is married and has a blended family with five children. She is currently serving in the United States Air Force as a Recruiter in Los Angeles, California. She has always loved to read and write and has seen her dream realized by independently publishing her first novel through Amazon with CreateSpace and Kindle Direct Publishing. Ta Ta for Now! is also now available through Smashwords at Barnes and Noble.com, on the Nook, and the Sony eReader. Her second novel in the series, xoxoxo, will be released on March 2, 2012.

Bethany Lopez’s Dream Cast for XOXOXO

Melissa - Gage Golightly

Jess - Elizabeth Gillies

Jimmy - Sterling Knight

Megan - Ciara Bravo

Ben - Jeremy Sumpter

Brian - Robbie Amell

Jenna - Nathalia Ramos

Melissa - Gage Golightly
Gage Golightly has the fresh All-American look that I envision Melissa having. Very pretty and sweet, without being intimidating to other girls.

Jess - Elizabeth Gillies
Jess has a little more of an edge, and I think Elizabeth is a beautiful girl.

Ben - Jeremy Sumpter
Ben is older than the rest of the group. He is a graduating senior, and is about to join the Air Force. I think Jeremy Sumpter has the perfect, striking good looks to match what I have imagined for Ben!

Brian - Robbie Amell
Robbie is little older than Brian, but he has the look and the coloring of Brian.

Jenna - Nathalia Ramos
Jenna is the amazingly beautiful, popular, and a senior at DHS. I think Nathalia fits this role perfectly.

Layla - Kelli Goss
As friend, turned enemy, turned acquaintance, Layla would be a tough, but fun role to play. I think Kelli fits the picture I had in my mind.

Jimmy - Sterling Knight
Sterling Knight may be a little old to play Jimmy, but he has that "good-looking best friend" look to him, which is how I picture Jimmy.

Megan - Ciara Bravo
We would have to dirty her up a bit, but I think Ciara would make the perfect Megan!
