The Awakening #2

Shifter, Liam Doyle knows Hell. At least he believed he did. The night he feels his mate die, he learns how very wrong he was. Nothing he’d struggled with since Ava’s rejection compares to the emptiness that fills his soul by her death. Lost in his grief, he’s taken by surprise and drugged. When he wakes, everything changes. Nothing is what it seems, and someone is dead set on making him pay.

When Ava Michaels is taken captive, she’s thrust into a dark and terrifying world along with the man she was forced to leave behind. While being near Liam again is heartbreaking, the motive behind her kidnapping is gradually revealed. The more she learns, the more she worries Liam isn’t the man she believed him to be. He has enemies willing to do anything to extract their revenge. Can their love survive a crazy man’s vengeance?

The Demon's Desire by Kendra Leigh Castle
Hearts of the Fallen #2

He’s as dark and dangerous as the storms he once commanded…and she can’t get him out of her heart.

Dru has spent two thousand years fighting to keep the people of Terra Noctem safe. In all that time, she's only opened her heart to one man, with disastrous results. But when her city takes in a group of renegade Fallen, she finds herself drawn to the brooding and tormented Meresin, despite the fact that he seems to be the least redeemable of them all. When his instability hits a breaking point, Meresin’s only chance at survival is a perilous journey into a place from which few ever return. What he never expected was that confronting his demons would mean risking not only his future, but Dru's as well...and that one stubborn vampire might give him back not just hope…but his heart.

Abby:

Ever since Abby Niles picked up her first Sweet Valley High book in sixth grade and fell in love with Elizabeth and Todd, she’s been hooked on romance. By the time she reached high school, she was devouring meatier romances with pirates, cowboys and knights. She never imagined that those years of reading would one day lead to her becoming a published author.

In her late twenties, after having twins and becoming a stay-at-home mom, she started doodling stories to keep her sanity. Next thing she knew, she was actually submitting to publishing houses. And was immediately rejected. That didn’t stop her though. She found herself some kickass critique partners, honed her craft, and continued submitting.

And eventually sold a short story, then a novella, then a novel, and now a series.

Today, she juggles work, home life, and writing. It’s not always easy, but hey, who said life was easy?

In her downtime, which isn’t often, you can find her playing ‘Just Dance’ with her kids or trying to catch up on her never-ending to-be-read list. She also loves Zumba, and refuses to admit she looks more like Animal doing his Muppet flail than a sensual Latin dancer.

Kendra:

Kendra Leigh Castle was born and raised in the far and frozen reaches of Northern New York, where there was plenty of time to cultivate her love of reading thanks to the six-month-long winters. Sneaking off with selections from her mother’s vast collection of romance novels came naturally and fairly early, and a lifelong love of the Happily Ever After was born. After graduating from SUNY Oswego (where it also snowed a lot) with a teaching degree, Kendra ran off with a handsome young Navy fighter pilot and has somehow accumulated three children, three dogs, and one enormous cat during their many moves.

While stationed in a remote corner of the Nevada desert, Kendra penned her first romance, and a career often spent working in fuzzy slippers and pajamas was born. Her work has garnered both critical praise and award nominations, but the best part has been connecting with readers who share her love of dark romance (not to mention heroes with sharp, pointed teeth). Kendra currently lives in Maryland, and can usually be found curled up with her laptop and yet another cup of coffee working on her next book. She loves to hear from her readers, and can be contacted via email or her Facebook page.

My Review

5 of 5 TMI

TMI is one of those books that every teenager should read. It is a heart wrenching story about two friends that are best friends until one lets a guy come between them. This is also a story about love, loss and families that are grieving and need help with that grief.

Bailey AKA Bay and Megan AKA Meg are best friends. They share everything together and they are inseparable but one thing they don't share is Bay's love for gaming. She loves to play video games and can spend hours online playing. So when Bay meets a guy Ryder West on Call Of Duty she is caught up in the web of lies and secrets he gives her.

Bay is so caught up in Ryder she starts ditching Meg for him and soon the girls are fighting because Meg feels like there is something off about Ryder. She thinks maybe he could be a pedophile or someone playing a joke on Bay but Meg has no way of proving it so she tries to find a way to prove to Bay that Ryder is fake and as the girls duel it out over rumors and gossip they soon find each other enemies.

When everything comes to blows with Meg and Bay and Bay discloses a huge secret of Meg's the friendship is in jeopardy and the revelation of who Ryder is is disclosed. But can the two every become friends again? Can what happened between them ever be salvaged? This is such a must read because it shows what happens when you post things on the internet and how cyber bullying can happen so fast.

Who is Patty Blount?

Author Info:

So glad you asked. Here are some random Patty-trivia facts.

Patty spends her days writing facts and her nights writing contemporary romantic fiction. A coworker once said if Patty were a super-villain, she’d be called The Quibbler. Her costume would be covered in exclamation points. Fueled by a serious chocolate obsession, a love of bad science-fiction movies, and a weird attraction to exclamation points, Patty looks for ways to mix business with pleasure, mining her day job for ideas to use in her fiction.

Though she’s passionate about happily-ever-afters, her first story wasn’t a romance at all. Penalty Killer, a whodunit, was written on a dare from her oldest son. Though unpublished, it was the subject of so many seventh-grade book reports that year, the English teacher requested a copy and later returned it, covered in red ink.

Ripped from the headlines, Patty’s novel, Send, a YA story about a former cyber-bully learning to deal with the suicide he caused with a single thoughtless click, was conceived when her boss suggested she learn about social media. Sendwas released August, 2012 from Sourcebooks Fire.

Patty is a master multi-tasker, squeezing in reading time whenever she can - in the gym, while waiting on long lines and even while cooking dinner.

Patty is represented by Evan Gregory of The Ethan Ellenberg Agency. You can contact her at pattyblount3 at gmail dot com.

First Kiss by Cindy M. Hogan Book Blitz with Xpresso Book Tours

First Kiss by Cindy M. Hogan
(Confessions of a 16-Year-Old Virgin Lips #1)
Publication date: July 3rd 2013
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Synopsis:

VL. Virgin Lips. You may not have heard of it, but where I live, it’s a thing with a card, even if it is a figurative card. I was Brooklyn Hill, certified virgin lips, and I planned on clinging to that figurative card with all I had—while dating as many of the hottest guys at school as I could.

Maybe that’s a bit strange. I mean, what teenage girl isn’t interested in kissing? Locking lips definitely interested me, but the drama that came with it didn’t. No kissing, no drama. Simple.

But on my sixteenth birthday, on my first real date even, the drama found me. His name was Luke Graham—cute, funny, and bad news for the whole female race.

Goodreads:

Excerpt:

We all laughed and ran outside and stormed the hot tub.

After the obligatory splashing and dunking settled down, Parker jutted his chin at me and teased. “You’re sixteen now, Brooklyn, the question is, are you still in the VL club?”

A strange silence fell over the group. I guess they really wanted to hear my response. I paused just long enough to give the answer away. I looked up, noticing a few stars speckled the skyline.

“Oooh,” Mike said. “’nough said. Well, my dear, your pain will now be over.” He moved toward me, lips puckered, eye brows waggling. I turned my head before he could make contact. My whole body was on fire.

Ali and Katherine, my two red-headed friends, pushed him back. “Down boy. Unlike you, she wants her first kiss to be special, meaningful, and with someone she wants to kiss. So, back off.” Ali could be forceful when she wanted to be. I loved and hated that about her.

He whimpered like a wounded dog as he sat back in his spot.

“Buurrrn!” Mike yelled.

“Burn, baby, burn,” Parker sang.

Purchase:
Amazon. Only .99 cents:

Excerpt:

“Yes siree, the two of us will die old and decrepit, kiss-less…unless, of course,” he said with a flourish, “we find that special someone.”

Only Parker could get away with a speech like that and not come out looking like a total loser. I wondered why that was. Why some could get away with stuff and others couldn’t.

“Then you’ll be missing out on the best stuff in life,” Ty said. Ty was on the swim team with Parker and me and was known for his roving lips.

“Just ‘cause you’re a lip-slut, Ty,” Ali said, “doesn’t mean you can diss on those saving themselves for something special.”

“Ohhh!” Harrison said, “Ali’s on the war path tonight. You guys better be careful what you say!”

“From the mouth of the oldest VL in the group,” Ty shot back at Ali and splashed her with water.

I could tell she was blushing wildly even in the semi-darkness.

“Actually,” I said, “Ali isn’t in the club.”

“No way!” Parker called out. “Ali, you disappoint me.” He frowned in an exaggerated way.

Ali splashed me. “Thanks a lot, birthday girl.”

That started everyone telling about their first kisses.

Mike said, “I went away with sore teeth after my first kiss. Instead of leading with our lips, our teeth clacked hard against each others’. But don’t worry, Brooklyn, I’ve got all that worked out, now.”

Before I could be too embarrassed, Katherine spoke up. “Nobody’s first kiss was worse than mine. He was salivating so much it dripped down my chin.”

“Well, my first was amazing. After all, I am Ty.”

Alyssa scoffed, “Yeah right.”

“I’m serious. We were just sitting there, not talking, and all of a sudden—a shooting star streaked across the sky.” He shushed all the mocking and sounds of disbelief. “It totally happened! And then, it was like we were telepathically connected, we looked at each other and without even thinking about it, I kissed her, soft and slow. When we stopped, she asked me my wish was, and I said—‘I just got it.’”

All the girls in the group sighed wistfully. I was impressed. I had no idea Ty was such a romantic. Then he broke the spell. “And, man, her lips were so hot. I’ll never forget those lips.”

The girls all groaned and splashed him. “Typical!” Alyssa said, rolling her eyes.

A few more kids shared their first kiss stories. Most sounded awful. We were either laughing hysterically or completely grossed out during the conversation. I held hope that my first kiss would be dreamy, like Ty said his was.

AUTHOR BIO:

I love a good scare, and I'm not talking about a gory, bloody scare, I'm talking about suspense. There's nothing better than reading a book or watching a movie that makes your heart race. Add in a little romance and I'm hooked. I only like true romance-no smut.

Author interview:

We are here celebrating your newest releases: First Kiss and Stolen Kiss. How have you liked writing a serial and how's it different from a series?

It's been harder than I anticipated, but I love a challenge. The best way to get a grasp on serials is to think about a season of your favorite TV series. Each season has 6-11 episodes that make up the season. Each episode stands on its own, but is also connected to the entire season.

So, the name of my new series is Confessions of a 16-Year-Old Virgin Lips and the first episode is called First Kiss. The second episode is called Stolen Kiss.

The third episode is called Rebound Kiss and will be out in the next week or two.

How long have you been writing books?

I started my first book, Watched, that you can pick up for free during this book blitz at your favorite eBook retailer, about six years ago.

Once that became a bestseller, I didn't have time to be a great teacher and a great writer, so I quit teaching. Which, was really hard. I loved being a high school teacher, mostly because I got to hang out with awesome teens all day.

What do you love to write about?

Is there anything more fascinating than teenagers? Seriously, the unpredictable nature of teens makes for great stories. I love the idea of putting sixteen to eighteen year olds get into extraordinary circumstances and seeing what they do.

What's the hardest thing about writing?

You're probably going to laugh, but I think the hardest thing is  getting names for my characters.

How do you plan out your books?

When I come up with a new story idea, I usually know the beginning and the end- that's it. I don't outline my stories, I just write what comes to me during a short brainstorming session each day.

How do you make your scenes so real?

I always go and visit the places that my books are set. Last year I went to Belgium and took copious notes and a million pictures before writing Created. I also visited Washington, DC, Helena, Montana, and Niceville, Florida before writing Watched and Protected. This year I traveled to New York and France for the two books I'm working on right now.

I lived in Roseburg, Oregon where Adrenaline Rush is set and I also lived in Tennessee where Gravediggers is set. We traveled to both places last year to make sure the setting was correct for both books.

You may think I love to travel, but really, it's Bill, my husband who has a love affair with travel.

What do you like to read?

I mostly read YA books, but I also love adult mystery and suspense novels.

Do you have children?

I have two teenage girls. They are so fun to be with. They inspire me. My oldest daughter inspired the serial, Confessions of a 16-Year-Old Virgin Lips

My husband also inspires me by coming up with some of the best ideas. The idea for Gravediggers came from him.

I'm waiting for my out-of-control dog to inspire me instead of make me crazy.

What's next?

I have 2 books coming out in October: Adrenaline Rush and Gravediggers. Adrenaline Rush is a YA suspense novel with a dash of romance and Gravediggers is a YA mystery novel with a dash of romance.

The covers of those two novels will be revealed soon.

ATOMR Presents Epiphany (Legacy of Payne #1) by Christina Jean Michaels Blog Tour Stop

Title: Epiphany
Author: Christina Jean Michaels
Release: July 19, 2012
Age Group: New Adult/Adult
Genre: Contemporary/Romantic Suspense

Book Description:

“I had my first psychic dream when I was nine. Psychic implied power, and powerful wasn’t a word I’d use to describe myself. I couldn’t foretell the future or conjure visions at will, but I couldn’t think of a more fitting word to describe what I sometimes saw in my dreams.”

For 23-year-old Mackenzie Hill, tossing her life down the garbage disposal is easy after a painful incident shatters her life. Her heart is bleeding, and moving to Watcher’s Point is a chance to start anew, only she isn’t prepared for the guy who walks out of her dreams and into the flesh. Literally . . . because she’s been dreaming about this sexy stranger for years.

Mackenzie is even less prepared to face the dark nature of her dreams. They’ve turned disturbingly gruesome, full of blood and murder, and when they begin to coincide with the media’s headlines, she and Aidan realize her visions might be the key to stopping a madman from killing again.

Only Aidan has painful secrets of his own, and perhaps the biggest danger of all is falling for him.

Goodreads:

My Review

5 of 5 Epiphany

Epiphany is a new debut for author Christina Jean Michaels and what a debut this book is. Man I have to say that this is one of those books that kept me up all night reading until the end. I just had to know who did it and why and the person I so thought did it was so not the person and man that made me love this book even more because it kept me intrigued until the very end and when the killer was revealed I said holy mother heifer because I did not see that coming.

Mackenzie AKA Mac has a normal happy life except for one thing. She has dreams and very vivid dreams at night. Every night she sees different things but she sees the same man the same face that haunts her. Then her dreams start to get dark with violence and murder in them. So after a tragedy that hits her hard she moves to her mother's home town of Watcher's Point. Once she arrives at Watcher's Point she see her dream man and can't believe it. When she sees Aidan Payne she is left momentarily speechless because she can't believe she is seeing her dream man in the flesh.

As She and Aidan start to get to know each other she realizes that she and Aidan have a special connection and that connection has to do with her dreams. See Aidan is trying to track down the guy who killed his wife and in the midst of all of this there are more murders being committed and they all have something to do with the dreams Mac is having. Together Aidan and Mac have to try and stop this serial killer by figuring out what her dreams mean and if in fact they are going to point to the killer.

But Aidan is hiding something something dark and when the secrets come out Mac will have to decide whether or not it is worth it to risk her heart or just walk away and try and figure out who the killer is by herself. Will Mac and Aidan be able to catch the killer before he strikes again? This is an incredible debut by a great author and I look forward to reading more from her.

Excerpt:

‘Look, I have to go. Can we talk about this later?’ Dad was asking Mum. Joe had shut the door behind him, and it was a good thing he did too, because when Dad had finished speaking, Mum picked up an empty bottle of Grey Goose vodka and threw it at his head. She missed, missed by a mile, but that didn’t stop the bottle hitting the wall behind him and shattering into thousands of tiny pieces. ‘Jesus!’ Dad exclaimed. He turned around, surveying the damage. ‘Oh, look what I did! Can’t have clean-cut Stevie D trashing the green room. People might talk!’ Mum’s voice dripped with sarcasm. It sounded hoarse, no doubt a result of the hours she’d spent alternating between crying and screaming up until now.

‘Even if this was our bloody lounge room, I would still be furious! You can’t just throw s**t like that.’

‘I’ll throw whatever I want to throw!’ Mum yelled. ‘You’re so uptight.’ She walked up to Dad and put her hands on his shoulders, shaking them. ‘Give up this stupid dream already.’ ‘And do what? I can’t afford your habits any other way. If I don’t sing, you have to get a job.’ Dad shook his head. I inched around behind them and started to pick up the pieces of glass. They were all different sizes, and some had gotten stuck in the carpet. They required a bit of twisting to retrieve, but the others I could pick up with ease and place in my hand. ‘What do you want me to do? I don’t have any skills.

And there’s clearly only one thing you think I’m good at these days,’ Mum said, leering. She pulled at her top, exposing her décolletage. I focused on the glass again. I counted each piece in my hand. Thirty-six, thirty-seven, thirty-eight. On the fortieth piece, a shard broke through my skin, spilling bright red blood. Funny. I hadn’t thought my skin would be so thin. ‘Amy, you’re hurt!’ Mum pushed past Dad and came to kneel next to me. ‘What are you doing?’ She knocked my hand with her own, and the pieces of glass flew up into the air and landed back on the floor. All my efforts — ruined. ‘Let me see,’ Dad said.

‘Get the hell away from her!’ Mum yelled, raising her voice again.

‘Do we have to do this in front of Amy?’ Dad asked. I felt them turn to look at me. Did they think I hadn’t heard? That the fights they’d been having all day in the adjacent hotel room hadn’t resonated with a hatred that travelled through walls? ‘Please don’t,’ was all I could say. But it was enough. Dad left the room, and Mum tended to my hand, spilling some vodka to cleanse it before wrapping it in a spare t-shirt. ‘I’m sorry, baby,’ Mum whispered to me. ‘I promise, things are going to get better.’ Only they didn’t. They got much, much worse.

Gentle fingertips grazed the edge of her jaw, trailing down her neck to her collarbone. His citrine gaze stared deeply into her eyes, and her body heated at his tender touch.

“You’re okay, yeah?” Thaene asked, his voice hoarse from their lovemaking.

Am I okay? She hardly knew. Though she had nothing to compare it to, this feeling was more than giving her virginity to him. Quinn felt like something bigger inside had stirred to life, wanting to escape.

“You know I love you. I’m sorry if it hurt.” He kissed her again, his lips caressing hers, as if he could take the ache away.

“Say something, Quinn. Please.”

“I love you, Thaene.” She pressed herself into him, passionately returning his affection. As their kiss continued, Quinn wondered if he wanted more. She also wondered if she had more to give.

“I want us together, always. Do you want that, Quinn?” Thaene’s eyes danced with a mixture of emotions—love, passion, possessiveness, and something else she couldn’t name.

“We can have forever. You want that, don’t you?” Thaene asked.

“Yes,” Quinn answered breathlessly, before realizing what she’d agreed to. She smiled, finding his need for her exciting.

“Forever is a long time. But I could do it with you.”

Thaene smiled back. Happiness lit his face. He looked like he’d just won a major prize—he looked triumphant.

“Being with you on your twenty-second birthday was very special to me. You’ve given me such a precious gift.”

“I love you. I can’t imagine my first time with anyone else.”

Besides, my gift of Sight showed you to me, over and over. How could I not give myself to you?

Her gift had shown her something else as well. Since she didn’t understand it, Quinn ignored it. She’d followed her heart where Thaene was concerned. Not even her mother’s dislike—or in spite of it— changed her mind. Following your heart always led you down the right path.

Thaene lightly brushed her hair from her face, then he rested his forehead on hers.

“There’s something else I’d like you to give me. Will you do that? Give me what I desire the most?”

The longing in his voice made Quinn squirm underneath him. Right now, she’d give him anything.

“It’s the most precious gift of all. One I’ll cherish forever.”

Oh my God. He wants to marry me.

“Yes,” Quinn said, drawing in a breath. “I’ll give you anything.”

“Good.” Thaene nuzzled her neck. “I want you to show me your Magyk.”

“What?” Quinn blinked at him, wondering if she’d heard him right.

“If you want us to have forever, you must show me your Magyk.”

My Review

5 of 5 Forgotten One's

The Forgotten Ones is a great story. I love how Laura created this world of The Tuatha De Danaan. The descriptions and the characters all flowed nicely and the side characters were very interesting. I love how Laura gave us a glimpse into a fragile relationship between a father and his daughter and how trust had to be earned and not given freely.

Imagine your mother being sick and no matter what you or the doctors did she remained sick. Well Allison knows all about her mother being sick with Schizophrenia. Her grandparents have cared for her mother long enough and she wants to help them out. She has denied herself any friends and she does not have a life. She has a huge crush on Ethan but she puts all those feeling aside to make sure she cares for her mother.

Then one day her father comes back into their lives and says he knows how to help her mother. He starts to tell Allison about The Tuatha De Danaan and how Fairies can help save her mother. At first Allison thinks he is crazy but she soon finds out that there are secrets and lies that are uncovered and Allison has no choice but to believe her father and trust in him in order to save her mother. But can her mother be saved or is she to far gone?
