Surrender (Mimics of Rune #2) by Aimee Laine Blog tour Stop

Face the past or look to the future? Both will hurt. One could kill her.

All her life, Lily Crane has supressed her childhood memories, masking the signs of abuse with a variety of looks. From brunette to blonde, tall to short — as a Mimic, changing shape is her gift. Her right. Her achilles heel.

It’s Lily’s latest likeness, chosen simply by accident, which threatens to repeat a history she’s desperate to forget. Worse, she must do so without the one man who takes all her pain away: Cael Aldridge.

Cael has no intention of leaving Lily on her own. He never has. Now, with the woman he loves in the hands of a predator who wants Lily for her genetics, Cael will do everything he can to bring her home.

Alive.

He can only pray he isn’t too late.

MY REVIEW

5 OF 5 CAEL AND LILY

In Surrender we meet Lily and Cael. Lily is a mimic just like Charley and she and Cael have become very close and Cael loves Lily and will do anything for her. So when she is kidnapped Cael will do whatever it takes to get her back.

Lily will have to come face to face with her past and relive a life she has tried to hide for so long. The pain of her abuse is to much to bare and she does not want to re-live the past but it is the only way to move on and have a life with the one man who has always loved her and that is Cael. How can you go back to a past that is filled with pain and abuse? How can you let go of the hate for the one person who has caused so much pain? Can love erase all that pain? These are the things that Lily will have to face and answer.

Cael has always loved Lily and he always will. He will do whatever it takes to bring her home. At times he has to let Lily do things for herself and when these times hit he gets nervous because his instincts are screaming at him to scoop in and save her.As Cael realizes the only way for Lily to heal is to do what she needs to and give her space he does. What Cael gets in return is something he never thought he would. This is a must read series and lord have mercy I need me a Cael in my life!

INTERVIEW WITH AIMEE LAINE

Today we have a great guest on A Diary of A Book Addict. I am so happy to have Aimee Laine author of The mimics of Rune series. I am so excited to have you here Aimee.

Thank you!

I read both books so far and I am in LOVE with this series.

Yeah! That makes me so excited!
Man I have never read a series so gripping and had me at the edge of my seat yelling OMG what is going on.

Woohoo! Yippee!

My family thought I was crazy at one point I was yelling at the book.

You have no idea how cool that is to hear, as an author.

So I just want to thank you again for stopping by and answering a few questions for your fans.

I'm happy to!

What inspired you to write this series?

Well ... the story came to me only with Charley. The connections with the characters - with her supporting characters (from Little White Lies) actually built as I wrote that book. Lily's story was hinted at in Surrender and as I wrote, I learned more. But it all started with one idea : What would happen if a 'person' could shapeshift into any other person, what could happen? And tada! We have the Mimics.

How much research did you do for this series because your descriptions were spot on and I just loved that so much?

No research. Or very little. Any research was detail about settings or locations or procedures. The Mimics though - they really are just people. And luckily, since I'm a people, it was easy to make stuff up!

Are Wyatt and Charley fashioned after someone real in your life?

They are a mix of a lot of people. Same with Cael and Lily. All my characters in fact.

Do you know a real FBI agent? (I have met a few and they can be intense but I love my boys with a badge)
There were two that lived in my neighborhood. And I have a few friends who work for the CIA but they almost never talk about their job.

Where is your favorite place to write?

On the couch with everything going on around me. Yup. Just in the middle of everything.
Are you a Kindle or Nook girl?

Kindle!

What is next for you in writing?

I'm currently writing Redeemed, the third in the MImics of Rune. I've also got book 2 in the Games of Zeus series coming out next Spring! (2013!)

When will book three be available?

If I can get it written in the coming couple months, end of 2013, but work has kept me really, really busy so right now, I'm thinking 2014 just because I've so behind!

Can you give us 7 random things we did not read about in the books in regards to Charley and Wyatt?

7 random things? Hmmm....

Wyatt went to the same high school as Mac Thorne in After Dark (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13348320-after-dark)

Turner Point, which is the location of Charley's home, is actually Pilot Mountain in Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, but there are no homes on the mountain.

The design of Charley's home came from an image of a Frank Lloyd Wright home that I'd seen somewhere a long time ago

Wyatt's house, is actually modeled after a house in Cary, North Carolina.

Lily being a chef is directly in contrast to me not being a chef. I hate-hate-hate to cook (with a passion) and so I let her being the awesome chef that she is.

Charley drives the one car I'm hoping to have by my next birthday: a Mini Cooper!

Charley's favorite restaurant is a place called Dulces, which is 'candy' in Spanish and is primarily found in Hide & Seek (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/12784862-hide-seek)

Aimee thank you so much for coming on and answering a few questions. I look forward to reading more from you. You are AWESOMESAUCE in my book!

Thank you!! :)

Aimee is a romantic at heart and a southern transplant with a bit of the accent (but not a whole bunch). She's married to her high school sweetheart, and with him, she's produced three native North Carolinians, two of whom share the same DNA.

With an MBA and a degree in Applied Mathematics, there’s absolutely no reason she should be writing romance novels. Then again, she shouldn't need a calculator to add two numbers, either ... but she does.

IF YOU HAVE NOT READ BOOK ONE IN THE MIMIC SERIES HERE IS MY REVIEW FOR LITTLE WHITE LIES

When the government needs a body double for a covert operation, they hire shape-shifter Charley Randall. For two centuries, she’s played every part from foreign dignitary to office drone. The role she wants most, though, is one she’s denied herself three times already.

FBI Agent Wyatt Moreland believes Charley’s photographic memory is the key to his latest assignment. He’s oblivious to the true extent of her abilities, but he can’t deny the sense of déjà vu at their introduction.

Unlike Wyatt, Charley knows this isn’t their first meeting.

It’s their fourth.

The girl he vowed to love, sixteen years before, stands in front of him in her true form - one he’ll never recognize.

With each reconnection, Charley loves him more, though she realizes this is her last chance to explain. Only absolute truth can bring them happiness, but can Wyatt forgive her deceptions? Or will lies tear them apart forever?

MY REVIEW

5 OF 5 WYATT AND CHARLEY
Little White lies is a story like no other. It is fulled with mystery, secrets and a unknown world. I have never read a book like this before and I have to say that I have not seen another book like this out there.I have to say I love my men in uniform and Wyatt is an FBI Agent who thinks Charley's photographic memory is the key to solving his case. What he doesn't know is her true identity. All Wyatt knows is that he needs her help solving his case.

When the two of them are together Wyatt feels like he knows Charley but can't remember from where he knows her. Charley has met Wyatt a few times in her lifetime but she is afraid to tell him the truth because he might not like what he finds out. The more time Charley Spends with Wyatt the more she falls in love with him and the more she needs to be with him.Wyatt is a drug to Charley but she fears that once Wyatt knows the truth he will hate her.See Charley is not a normal girl she is a mimic. She can mimic any girl and has but Wyatt doesn't know that.

Charley fears that once Wyatt does find out she is a mimic he will leave her and never speak to her again. With the case on the line what will Charley decide? Will she reveal herself and risk rejection? Or will she continue to live like a mimic with the other mimics? With the race down and time pressed will Charley and Wyatt ever become a couple?

This is s must read series and I can't wait to read Surrender to see what happens to Wyatt and Charley!

At first glance, Surrender doesn't look like a sci-fi book, more like YA contemporary with a girl who's into drugs LOL. Thanks for enlightening me

This is a new author to me, so I can't comment on her books. If I could mimic someone, anyone , who would it be? A fictional character, Eve Dallas from the In Death series by J. D. Robb.

Thanks for a great post and giveaway! I just got Little White Lie so I'm very excited to hear of the new book :) I think that I'd like to be Michelle Obama. To find out what really goes on in D.C. but yet not be fully responsible for the country :)

After giving this one a little thought, I don't think I'd want to mimic anyone. I like being me and being somebody else wouldn't be quite as good (wink)
